Rockwell None Drive Front Axle Lubrication.
I am in a time crunch I need help figuring this out by tomorrow morning. I hope few of you will see and can help.
Our 94 U225 is on blocks at friends shop & I need to get it out of there by tomorrow afternoon. We noticed a small leak behind the front wheels and took it a part. It needs new seals. I called FT today they gave me a Seal part number A1205U1711 we cross referenced it and that number is 3090973 (Guardian seal by StemCo). I was able to get the seals (wrong one) right before the truck parts store closed (Fleet Pride in Ft Worth). It turned out to be wrong seals. Now I have the seal that we removed in hand and it shows StemCo 2133. I think it is for 9K Ford front end axle seal, not sure. I am hoping that they have it and i can exchange it first thing in the morning. I will go there with the seal that came out in hand. Now my question is for lubrication what kind of lubrication (oil) do i need to put in there ... is it ordinary gear oil? I believe it is oil bath type of set up, perhaps it is also called "Planetary Drive Axle" I don't know. I have this booklet that came with the Coach ( Maintenance Manual No.1 Revised 1-93 Lubrication Rockwell) I am not understanding what kind of oil it requires from the Manual, there is too much information in there for many different models and set ups) in there.
Best i can come up with is for axle model number is FD-931. When we took it a part it looked to me like a differential oil & it smelled like it too. This is the oil you see through when you take the hub cap out & there is a easy access by removing a red plug to add oil. What kind of oil do i need to put in there? Please see attached picture.
Thank you for your help,
AL
