FMCA Michelin Advantage program

FMCA Michelin Advantage program.
Have you ever used the FMCA Michelin Advantage program to purchase your Michelin tires but not use the tire dealer that sold you the tires for installation?

I might be wrong but I believe that Michelin sends a PO to the service company that will balance and mount the tires.  That's how it worked when we used it in April '13.  One invoice from Michelin and one from the service company.

Front tires are brand new, but the back tires we spin balanced and reinstalled, they are old, in good condition but old. We took 3 trips with them total about 2000 miles since spin & balance. This last trip i stepped on it a bit on the way back Sunday. Up to 69 mph it rides just fine but when i push it to 74-78 mph back end gets jumpy. We went through rear end, removed few shims also installed dual Sumo shocks. So i know it's all good back there but looks like I need to get new tires back there too. Oh well since we purchased it back in June we did almost everything and some ... about 10K now but i was trying to get a way with old tires back there, looks like 2 coach bucks more will have to do it.

Al,

You mentioned removing shims.  What is your ride height at each wheel position?  Incorrect ride height puts that very short driveshaft at incorrect angles and can certainly cause vibration at high speeds.  This goes for ANY Diesel Pusher, since the drive shaft is so short, even one inch off really changes angles.

 I have to look but i believe we took out 3 shims from each side. I don't recall the numbers as I am writing this but we had determined to remove 3 shims based on the instructions i had found here and/or Barry's.
Please advice what kind of numbers should i be looking at?  "driveshaft at incorrect angles" do you know how and where we need to make adjustments?

Al,

Ride height spec on U225 and U240 is 32-33" as measured from the "roof" of the wheel well behind each tire to the ground (no jacks, level ground). It is the only area that will give you anywhere near that dimension, so hard to mis-measure.

Though the number of shims must be the same in front of and behind a wheel position, each wheel position can have a different number of shims.
