This forum saved me today

Today I was doing my checks on my 2001 U270 after being here in lower Alabama for 2 weeks.  I noticed that my generator exhaust was hanging low and would not make it to Nac, so I needed to do some "repairs".  I fired her up, built up pressure and raised the front to the max and then put in place my safety stands ( which I had made per discussions on this forum).  When I turned off the engine, I heard an air leak, which was for the front suspension.  I made a temporary repair to the genny exhaust to hold it up till I get to Nac and when I tried to pull my stands out, they were in solid.  I had to start up and raise the front again to pull it out.  Just thinking of what might have happened if I did not have those safety stands- Thanks to all of you for your ideas about safety first.

I will be in Nac getting service and repairs at Mot the week of Jan 20- maybe I will see some of you there.

Be safe and please, everyone carry and use the safety stands before going under the coach.  Most of the time there will be no problem, but that one time..................

Safe travels

Glad it turned out okay, Ted. My eight new safety stands, painted bright orange, are here in the house. As soon as I get the coach running and level I'm going to put them in place. I suspect that I have some major air leaks and I want the coach to stay put while I'm looking for them.

Ted,
Good advice.

As an extra precaution,  I always lower the coach down until the safety blocks are snug in place ( can't pull them out).  When done, I raise the coach(while running)until easily removed. I use 2x2 12" hitch receiver tubes (from Harbor Freight) and have a little room to spare when fully raised.  I always carry them with me.

Just got back from Nac and had some great service and met some really great fellow Foretravelers.

Be Safe!
