from the ad: with Banks Kit upgrade on Turbos which cost $16,000 now makes close to 400HP.

I think they're off a decimal point on that kit. (Comma added for readability)

ref: fuel economy.. -->better<-- or worse
More air with aftermarket turbo (in this case replacement exhaust assembly), cleaner & more efficent burn. You do run the risk of popping a head gasket with more boost, but not likely with reasonable driving habits.

Nothing Banks does should effect reliability or head gaskets. Depending on what RPM the engine gets the additional boost, the fuel mileage can actually improve a little until you use the extra H.P. Anytime the engine produces more power than stock, it always means using more fuel and making more heat.

  Pierce, having the Banks on our coach I can attest to your comments. I also would NOT be without it now. The added kicker I feel for heat has been the removal of muffler.

Woww unless something is wrong 25K or less (add indicates not firm on 25K) what a price.
I have almost 30K in mine and mine is 225 .... Maybe i need to sell and upgrade now. After all i have done be hard to part with. I hate it when people just give away, literally.
I like my fuel milage i will hold on for a while :-)

Yes... I bought my U225 at what seemed to me to be the bottom of the market and it's exactly what we wanted as a base model. I look at the coaches coming onto the market and the temptation is great. But that fuel economy is hard to give up and the light weight, low overall height and 96" width is hard to give up for what we want out of an RV.

But, jeez... $25k for a U280 that seems to be in nice shape... with Banks. Although, frankly, I'd buy Gary's first even at $10k more simply because I trust Gary to have things done right.

Me too Craig ... Gary's ... I love to buy it .. but too much of a hassle to sell the U225 right now to buy his .. believe me i though about it, even lost sleep over it.

It does sound like a good deal, but I believe Gary's has a transmission retarder and the 94 U280's did not. A lot easier to add a banks kit than an Allison retarder... For that alone, I would choose Gary's even with the price difference.

Actually, a few late 94 models were sold with the 3060R. It was optional of course.

And I feel that Gary's have the more desirable floorplan, the SBID.  I have the same floorplan as the coach referred to in this thread - SBI, and I would much prefer the Dinette (SBID)!
