Lost A.C. power to wall sockets

I woke up this morning to find no power in any of the wall sockets. The W/D, furnaces, microwave, Fridge -- all work.

The breakers in the two panels at the foot of the bed are all okay (none were tripped), and the Powerwatch Meter above the door shows 120 V and correct polarity.

I turned all the breakers off and back on. No change.

I'm stumped where to look next. Is there another breaker somewhere?

It had not dawned on me to check it as nothing was plugged in there.

Your gfi in the bathroom is tripped. They go bad over time

Don't feel badly. I looked for an hour until I just happened to see the brown reset buttons with a flashlight. Have never seen brown buttons ever. Mine reset but has not tripped since.

You're not the first one to get that surprise.

By the way, how is everything going with your coach. Yours was a very interesting case since it sat so long. Hope everything is going good for you.

If and when one needs to replace a GFCI outlet receptacle due to damage or (the more normal) age related failure, be aware that today's choices include the inexpensive option of a replacement GFCI with an LED indicator light that:

• makes it easy to identify tripped conditions at a glance

   

• makes it easy to identify end of life conditions (won't reset)

   

• prevents line-load reversal mistakes (won't set and therefore prevents undetected miss-wiring errors): i.e. - no power to the face or downstream receptacles if wired incorrectly

[/list]These GFCI's don't cost anymore and they make it easy to tell at a glance when the GFCI is tripped.

I usually grind coffee in the morning for the latte machine. I shake the little electric Bosch grinder while it's running so the coffee keeps circulating and gets a fine grind. About 1 in 10 times, it trips the kitchen GFI. Strange what will cause that.

Good idea about the light on the GFI!

We have a couple of Vornado personal fans that tend to trip the GFI when their power switches are toggled. I expect it to happen, so we reset and move on.

GFI with LED indicator light in brown on eBay: Leviton Black Smart Lock Lighted 15A GFCI Receptacle Duplex GFI Outlet 7599 E |  Also available in white, ivory and 20 amps. LED shows power available at the outlet. About $12 delivered.
