Prosine 2.0 Inverter Repair

The Prosine 2.0 seems to be prone to welding the transfer relay....which mine has done in the invert position.

Has anyone here ever had their Prosine repaired ? Xantrex, nor their "repair" agents won't, or can't repair it.

Thanks,

We replaced one about a year ago.  It no longer produced AC through the interior outlets while underway.  I contacted a Prosine repair facility in the Seattle area and was advised that he has only been able to repair 3 out of 10 units returned for repair.  At that time we would have  to pay for shipping and then bench time.  He advised that he considered them throwaway quality since they are now being made in China with less stringent tolerances.  I opted to replace with a Magnum MS 2812.  Good luck.

Same experience as Scott and Carol - Prosine 2.0 failed two years ago, checked with Xantrex "repair" facility - not repairable. We replaced it with a Magnum 2012, which has been totally satisfactory.  Magnums are made in the USA and are fully supported by the factory.

If it's similar to the 2.5/3.0 versions, it's generally not repairable  Xantrex Prosine 2.5/3.0 repair

I have never looked inside a Prosine 2.0, but since it is considered unrepairable, not much to loose by trying to fix it.  If the relay is mounted on a PC board it will be difficult but not impossible to unsolder all the connections.  If it's not on a PC board take pictures of the wiring before removing. There should be some info on the relay that would allow you to find a replacement using google.  You need to be able to use a soldering iron of the right size though.  Some old amateur radio guys might be able to fix it.

Looking at the pictures of the failures, you better be willing to spend a lot of time and buying a lot of parts.  When failures like these occur, the parts that look good can easily have been degradated to the point they have exceeded operational tolerances.  If you get it repaired do you want to entrust your coach and accessories to such a unit.
