Water Pump Control

I wonder if I'll ever catch up with the issues on this coach.  I was sanitizing the water tanks the other day and this happened.  We have the rear normal factory water tank which is controlled via Intellitec multiplex switching.  The relays are adequate to handle this.  We have an additional front water tank and this separate water pump and water fill switch run to an Intellitec Radio Switch Monoplex under the fibgerglass panel in the large bay.

Procedure was: Load required bleach into water hose.
Connect to city water and press primary water fill.
Once tank is full let sit for 4 hours.
Now I can turn on the primary water pump and secondary water fill and the water from the primary tank will transfer to the secondary.  That went fine.
Now after the right amount of time I wanted to drain the water into the sewer so I turned on the secondary pump and turned on the sink.  In about 5 minutes it died. 

I read now that the radio switch monoplex is only good to handle 3 amps.  A water pump is around 7.5 amps.  I've heard in non-intellitec units (U320 40' and shorter, U295, U270) use this radio switch monoplex for the pumps.  How many of you guys had failures of this unit?

I think I am going to replace it and then instead of directly controlling the water pump load, have it control a bosch relay that way it doesn't blow again.

I've had two fail. This is a good replacement. It's a Finder20.21.9.012.0000. It's rated at 10 amps. You'll find several threads on replacement for the units you've got. Search for "latching relay." Some use a VW switch. Anyhow, with the right amp rating, you shouldn't have any problem. Here's where I got my last one: 20.21.9.012.0000 - Relays

Hey that looks pretty good, and much cheaper!  Does this properly light the water pump LED though?  As in is the monoplex radio switch module still required?

Works just the same. It's called a latching relay. It's probably what Foretravel would replace yours with. Be sure and copy the drawing attached to the other thread to see how you wire it. Pretty simple; just have to put a little jumper between two terminals. I've actually replaced three of them, two on the 99 and one on the 95.

We only have one fresh water tank and our coach came with the LR35 mechanical latching relay, . We carry a spare and same relay is used for our inside ceiling light. Recently we had something jam the momentary switch in on position and a small coil wire in the LR35 burned out, so our spare came in handy. If you can replace the multiplex switch, just add your Bosch relay idea to carry the load. If you can't replace the multiplex switch, it will take some wiring to run the LR35 from several inside places.

 :dance: Thanks jor, finder relay installed and working fine, second tank and water pump now functioning properly again!
