2001 U320- which tank does the aux compressor fill

Appears to be 3 air tanks. Does the auxiliary air compressor go directly to one of the these?  My guess is the smaller horizontal one? Of the two remaining, which one controls the front and which one is the rear?

Thanks,

David

The smaller tank is the aux compressor.  I moved the tank drain valves from under the tanks to the fender well for easy access.  If no one answers fir you, I will check that as to which tank is read, front

Thanks Mike.  That's what I suspected. I have a small leak and the compressor wants to cycle too often. Then one of my air gauges reads about 75 to 90. (The one on right side of steering wheel).  I thought I would look for both issues when looking for the leak.  After the compressor cycles, you can hear an air leak that releases a little, goes quiet for a few seconds and then leaks again and so on. Any ideas?

Most compressors have a relief valve on the compressor at the pressure switch that when the compressor shuts off will releive the head pressure.  You will hear that valve leak the head pressure when the compressor shuts off.  Those valves also can leak so that would be something to check.

My diagram for the '93 U300 show's that the Aux compressor does not fill any tank or even supply pressure to a tank.
There is a dual check valve ( shuttle valve ) to prevent this happening.

Lots of timed it is the step solenoid up front that is going bad like that.

David, I hear options for several things.....it appears you have aux running you think too often and I agree from what you wrote.  Then you note the dash gauge, I guess one only of the two?  They reading the same or different values at the same time?  I seemed to lose track of whether the engine is running, etc.  I suppose that you are parked, engine off, but it might help if we talk.  At one time my aux was trying to also fill the main tanks, caused similar what you have seen.  If you want, send me pm with your phone number and I will see what I can do, had quite a bit to get right with my system on the same model coach you have, most from prior owner mistake and a failing dash air gauge.

John,

The noise I hear is in the vicinity of the step. In fact, I've noticed it operating slower the last few months. Maybe related?

Will call tomorrow David but the noise could be air from the two cylinders that raise and lower the outside step or the floor cover that goes over the steps opening in the coach.  Both are good places to find leaks.  You can see the two folding step cylinders by having the step down and look beyond the black vinyl curtain at the back of the folded down step
