Cummins Bridgeway Coach Care

We were on our way to Batesville , IN from Mobile, AL when we had "some fun."  Check engine light kept coming on, dinging DW crazy, hesitating, low power on the hills.  I changed fuel filters at a rest area and got back on I65- the more I drove the worse it got.  Finally I asked Karen to find a Coach Care facility.  We found Cummins Bridgeway in West Chester , Ohio.  They were closed on Saturday, imagine that, but they did have electric hookups, so we pulled in and hooked up.
I think the alarm went off at least 100 times or more between Louisville, Ky and  here.

Monday morning I went in and talked with Jerry (service writer), he worked us in and put someone on it to diagnose the problem.  Lots of air in fuel was the first thing, but they had to isolate from where.  Turned out lift pump (original on my 2001 U270) was going and also fuel line between the lift pump and secondary fuel filter.  They replaced those parts, bled the air out, etc  got us out on Tuesday afternoon.  Coach seems to run well now, no alarms and no bucking on our short drive  55 miles to Batesville.

It took a while to isolate the problem, but they worked us in and got us going ok.  If in this area and need work on your Cummins, check them out.  Not cheap, but good quality work.

Ted,
These folks have been doing most of the maintenance on Forrest for the past 10 years. Not cheap, but they stand behind their work. I've been very satisfied with them. They have other facilities in MI, IN, OH. They are 50% owned by Cummins.

You might consider looking at all your fuel lines.  I had to replace all mine this winter.

I also use them for my service and mine is the 3208T CAT. Great people, great service, and yeah they are not cheap but you get what you pay for. If they can't fix it they will go the extra mile to find someone who can. For my speedo/cruise (Bendix system) they found a shop to manufacture my part that was needed.

John:

The tech did a very good check on the fuel lines, testing for air leaks at all places.  This was the only one they found, so seems ok to me for now.

Peter:

Sounds good.  We are originally from this area before we went full time in 2007.  We will be around here for the summer visiting family, ( new grandson), friends, etc.  Perhaps we can get get together sometime?

I heard some talk about being bought while in the waiting room- perhaps Cummins buying them is what they were referring to.  Always a little unease when change is coming.

Ted, I posted a week ago about our "check engine" light and beeper going  many many times in 2 days and wondered what was causing it. The 3rd day only came on twice and never did I loose power or ability to climb hills etc. Maybe we have the same problem. I do have the special gaskets for Low sulphur as this seems to be the root cause from what I read a year ago. Maybe I should look into replace/repair mine soon. Hope I can get to it with my back problem and maybe it is easier from under in the pit. We will see.

John:

I have read about a lot of lift pumps going out around 2000-2001 years ( right where we are).  We can only hope that this solves the problem permanently.

On my ISC, they got at the lift pump from the top, inside the coach.  I understand it may not be at the same place on the M-11 engine which is what I think you have in your U295.  Am I right about that?

Hope your back feels better so you can look into it.  Having back issues myself, I know it is no fun.

John is correct the 350. The pump is right side in a tight spot. My back will not get better, getting worse but I am still alive.. The other problem with me is my right hand gives me problems sometimes as I crushed the wrist and I have to work in reverse with that one at times. Anyway enough of these problems we just have to get on with life.
