Dash lights

Hello, 2002 U-270 36' 400hp, Having a problem with the dash lights when the dimmer switch is on the ground lead is burning & smoking in between the black plastic dash, Started with the lights that light up the words generator auto start, now the dash lights in the A/C, vent, heater, fan switch,  sizzle with sparks & burnt smell, Looked behind the dash ,But the bulbs are in between the dash.  With the dimmer switch off all is well. Any ideas? Thanks John

Does your unit have the luminescent dash?  Does it have a lighted line all around the outside of it? If it does, It sounds like the dash  panel is shorted to me.

Drilling or modifying the dash can cause a short circuit. There are probably other events that can short the electro-luminescent dash.

Our still works works (mostly). It works best on full illumination. It does buzz. I can't hear the buzz when we are at normal traveling speeds.

The bad part is Foretravel got into it with the manufacture and parts are no longer available.I was lucky and my problem was the inverter. By the way the dash is very high voltage so be careful.
