Pulley for Cummins 8.3C Hydraulic Pump

Has anyone had any luck in finding a replacement pulley for the hydraulic pump that runs the cooling fans on a '94 280?

You're not getting much (any) response on this.  I'll ask the obvious question: Did you call FOT and ask them?  They should have a part # at least, if not a source for the part.  Do you still have the old pulley?  Does it have any part # or identification on it?  Over the years, I have found Grainger Industrial Supply to be very helpful in supplying obscure mechanical bits and pieces.

Still waiting for my call back from Foretravel. Their support has changed and it's hard to get someone on the phone now.
My idler arm broke and damaged the pulley but not to the extent it can't be used.....YET. In addition, the pulley not come off easily. So I am trying to get a handle on a replacement before I put the puller on it and possibly destroy it. Since I got no replies perhaps I will call parts until I actually get a human to answer. And thanks for your concern.

I am just now in the middle of replacing my hydraulic belt idler arm.  I have the old one off, but have not yet installed the new one.  The old one appears to be the original factory installed piece, and even with 162,000 miles on it, seems to be in good condition!  I just figured it was about time for a new one...

One thing I noticed that seems a little strange - the pulley on my hydraulic pump is a "8-rib" piece, while the pulley on the crank (and the belt, of course) is a "6-rib".  Seems like they could have found a 6-rib pulley for the pump back in the day, but I guess this works just as well...

Good luck finding the part you need.

Twiog, If pulley is like mine you do not need a puller.  Take the three bolts out, use two of them in the two threaded opposite holes, tighten the bolts til pulley comes free.
May be a different type on yours.
Check with any good hydraulic shop, they should be able to get you a pulley.

Thanks Gary. The 2 bolts broke off in the holes. Now it needs a puller.

Use more penetrating oil and small, sharp raps with a hammer and not so much torque on the bolts.  If those broken bolts are not grade 8, I would drill them and continue with the original method of using the threads and bolt to jack the pulley off the shaft.

Thanks. The bolts were stainless and minimal room to get at them, especially with bifocals. The puller should pull it off now since I don't have to worry about damage to the pulley. I have tried everything EXCEPT plenty of torque. Now I pull out the big guns.
