Insurance ??

After our problems with an insurance claim with Progressive we are shopping around.  I requested a Good Sam and a Blue Sky Insurance quote. My question is are there any other "good" companies that you may suggest? GEICO and a few others wil not insure in MI due to our no-fault laws, but I would welcome any suggestions from you all.

Thanks,
Jeff

On high recommendation from several forum members, we got our insurance policy through Overland Insurance Services.

RV Insurance Quote From Overland Insurance | RV Insurance | Motorhomes, Travel

We didn't do any price shopping, so I can't say if we got a good deal.  And we haven't had any need for the coverage yet (knock on wood), so can't comment on that aspect.  Our actual insurance policy is underwritten by "Allied Insurance - A Nationwide Company".  I assume Overland works with several carriers.  Give them a call and get a quote - see what you think.

Funny.....I  just went through my Motorcader magazine and saw Overland...I filled out a quote request. Also just checked out Safeco, by suggestion, local office was really nice. Thought I owned a "FORDtravel" lol...not the first time I heard that one.

I have not found anyone cheaper than AARP (The Hartford) including Overland and the rest.

I use the insurance offered by Costco, Ameriprise (Affiliated with American Express).
NEVER a problem on claims for the cars or the house ( 4 cars, House, Foretravel).
They let us call and insure when we take the Foretravel out and drop back to "storage" insurance level when we park it after road use (  last fall we took out the Foretravel for a long weekend they didn't even charge us).
Full coverage when we hit the road.
If we use it on occasional weekend outings its costs practically nothing to insure.
A fantastic Company to deal with.
With the Costco Executive membership there are other advantages.

I contacted Overland but have not heard back yet...after speaking with the Safeco people with a local office here in town, I think that will be our choice with a $500 annual savings from Progressive. Pending something great from Overland today.

Let this be your guide. With AARP I pay $126 per YEAR for full coverage. Including towing for "whatever it takes".

Keep in mind insurance rates are highly coverage, state-regulation, and risk-pool dependent.  You can't really compare actual bills unless you're looking at identical coverage in the same region of the same state.

I first got an Overland policy but later when I got the policy details, I found they had farmed it out (or whatever it's called) to Progressive, so it does depends on your state of residence, (I'm in Florida).  When they get back to you, ask them which company they are using in your state.

I had heard too many negatives about Progressive (there's a thread on this forum, something like "Progressive nightmare") I decided when I finally had the time to change to the Explorer agency.  While I'm very happy with the house & cars being on USAA, I personally beleive it's important to go with an RV specialist.  So far, no claims but was just anxious to get rid of Progressive.

Yes, I am leaving Progressive due to me having issues with a claim.  AARP isn't an option for me yet at 43 and still working lol

Amica Insurance was the cheapest by far.  They beat Geico and Progressive by over half.  I live in Florida.

We had Hartford beat Geico by over 50 percent.  I had used geico for 34 years and switched as all my vehicles were less then what they wanted for my FT.  I had used GMAC when Geico would not insure motorcycles or RVs but they started and we switched and had all our vehicles with them and now for the last few years have been with Hartford. Not super easy to deal with but much cheaper and they do pay on windshields anyway.

Any comments on Blue Sky Insurance?
We just received quote which would decrease our annual premium by just north of $800 compared with our current policy with National Interstate.

Just a question here after seeing Dick's remark about the ins' rate dropping by $800.
Our insurance is Govt (BC) manadatory for the Liability and you can go private for comprehensive if you want. It all adds up to around $1100 a yr on a value of around 80k or $3 a day. What do you get down in the US?

We've insured through Miller RV Insurance Agency in Lake Oswego OR since 2008 (we have fulltimers insurance for the coach.)  Insurance company has changed over the years, and now we're with Titan Insurance, which is part of Nationwide for the Foretravel, and Progressive for the car.  Never had to claim anything other than windshield replacement (fingers and toes crossed...), but Miller is great to deal with, and they can write policies in most every state, I think.
