Should My Passenger Windshield Be Replaced?

Good Morning!

The crack is at most 3 inches to the right of the center post.

The crack is curved to where it looks like it will continue on to close on the post. So it does not seem likely the window could fall out.

Should I replace it ASAP anyway?

In general, cracks will propagate (grow), but you shouldn't drop everything to have it replaced in a rush.

For instance, If I had one now ( don't) I would continue using up here till fall and then drive south and have it fixed at one of my favorite shops in NAC or Parliament in FL depending in who was doing my annual service this year .

Paul, That WS will not fall out.  In some States you would have to replace a cracked WS, in GA you have to replace ONLY if crack is in DRIVERS line of vision and the state  interprets that as in the Wiper arc.  I would leave it till its convenient or you get tired of looking at it.  In my 280 I had delamination that clouded the WS to about 4 inches in, and then I changed them out.

Windshields are two laminated pieces of glass. Crack will not cause front piece to fall out. Drill and fill with glass repair often stops crack from growing. Gotta fix these ASAP to prevent crack growing.

I'd call the insurance company and see what they say. Yes, replacing it is the best choice, but it may not be something that has to be done today. Perhaps a mobile repair service can come out and at least keep it from getting bigger, or you may have to drive the coach to a shop for a patch. I've had cracks in a car windshield, and the insurance company paid 100% for the replacement. I've had chips in the windshield and the insurance company paid 100% for a repair. So far I've been happy with what the insurance company has wanted to do. Haven't had any chips or cracks on the Foretravel windshield - yet. I don't think I want to know what a replacement would cost.

Definitely check with your insurance company. Mine developed a crack and it was replaced at no cost to me--and no increase in the insurance cost at the next renewal.

Just got my passenger side replaced by insurance.  I had a disappearing deductible, so it was free this time.  Bill was $868 for glass and install.
