Dash A/C Heat/vent control 1992 U 240

I need to replace the dash pushbutton a/c heat control unit on my U240 (more specifically the temperature control slider--right now two settings, Antarctic and blast furnace). I am not sure what was there but it was used for several years. I don't mind replacing it with a more modern unit but does anyone have a schematic for the control wiring, or information on the manufacturer and part number?

Foretravel parts has one left in stock for $600+ but suggested I might find a better deal elsewhere. They thought it was a late 80s early 90s Dodge part but so far no success in finding anything.

Why not just add a common 2 or 4-port heater control valve that is adjusted with a cable. I assume less than $50, with some at $17 at Amazon. That's is what Foretravel used on some later models. Maybe even connect slider to new valve. Or replace your heater hose valve with a new one.

Google 'auto heater control valve'

Barry & Cindy:

The problem with your suggestion is that I have no idea where the current valve or valves are located and they are controlled by a single wire from the dash panel that also switches from heat to A/C. I would very much like to adopt your idea but need to find out where that single wire and the switch go and I have no schematics to help me.

Mr. Fitz:

The control panel looks exactly like mine but without additional information such as additional pictures and a wiring diagram I am reluctant to spend $550. I have asked Johnny's to provide that information but have not received it as of right now.

In any event, thanks to all of you for your responses, I am at least somewhat ahead of the game thanks to them.

Isn't your heater hose valve located in the outside compartment under the windshield?

ARWilson,  There are great differences in these coaches so my experience may not be the same as yours.  My 95 U280 Had the control head that is shown in the photo at the dealer.  I believe that the temperature is controlled by the slider moving a cable that opens / closes the blend door in the plenum.  On mine the cable was corroded and frozen but fortunately I was able to soak it repeatedly with solvent and then soak it again with penetrating oil.  When the cable was freed up I then had control of the temp in the coach.  At the same time I had to rep;lace the "H" water valve as it was leaking coolant thru it and not allowing the evaporator to do its job.
I would try all this before replacing that expensive head.
