Seems to me the best year is whichever one we own! :P
You can't beat a 1990 U280 for reliability and simplicity, and you can't beat a 1996 U320 for comfort, ride quality and pride of ownership.
Of course, those are the 2 I own.  Just saying.  I love them both.
