Just how healthy (or not) is the Motorcade Club?

I'm beginning to wonder if the Motorcade Club is losing Foretravel sponsorship, and might be on the decline.  Maybe it's time to get the FMCA Foretravel chapter reactivated?

Here are my views:

This forum has no link to MC on the Links tab.

I can no longer find a link nor any mention of MC on the FOT website.

Going to the actual MC website is possible via a Google search.  Once there, I find dead links and outdated information.

Barry's site is a little better, but there is not much going on, and lots of outdated information.

About all that's left are a magazine, some events (getting fewer and fewer), and discounts at FOT (we'll see how long they last).

I hope I'm misreading the signs, but this doesn't look good in my view.

The MC club is self sufficient now. IT is under fore travel website as owners club but is password protected.

The forum and the club have no connection other then having members in common who all like Foretravel coaches.  The site is not updated by the club but rather by whoever runs FT website. That being said, their website is weak on its own so to expect the MC to have a stronger one is not in the cards right now.

OK, where did they hide the owner's club link? I clicked on every visible tab and link, and came up empty.

Looks like a lost puppy to me.

They really do appear to be hiding it under a rock.  Hard to believe when CM himself bought Travco mostly to get his hands on Motorcade.  Times (and the FT customer base) appear to have changed.

But where is the link you can click on, directly or indirectly from the FOT site, to get here?

You got my curiosity up - I had to go look.

It's not on FOT's site (I'm guessing because that's sales, parts, and service), it's on the Foretravel corporate site Foretravel Luxury Motorcoaches

I notice there isn't any update regarding the recent Grandvention, new officers, etc. though.

Hi Tom,

If you go to  (Foretravel Luxury Motorcoaches)

Foretravel Luxury Motorcoaches

The Owners Club is right there.

There are lots of place to navigate to but many are dead ends.

I read somewhere on the forum in the past few days that someone thought about going to the Driving School but it was too expensive.  That is too bad because that is an important skill building event that way too many folks don't think they need.

We wanted to go to the GV in OK but timing just didn't work.  I was surprised at the cost, thought it was a bit high but that wouldn't have stopped us. We are going to try hard to make the '15 GV in Indiana.  Our local chapter has had some inviting get togethers and they seem less expensive.  Maybe not quite as a big production either but that is more our style any way.

We have met other FT owners who have had exceptional experiences on motorcades.  If they work for you then go. We are a bit more on-our-own types but we sure have had a lot of fun meeting other FT owners, mostly connected through the Forum and hope to meet many more.

We are all here on this forum, driving and enjoying our Foretravels and proud to own one of the truely great coaches because of Foretravel's passion for quality and coaches that are great to drive and live in. We all like to add those personal touches and adaptations that make them especially ours. We are lucky that Foretravel is still here, doing as well as it is and working hard to get better. The more we encourage that and help make it happen the better for all of us.

Then I suggest adding the corporate website to the links page on this forum.

I guess I don't understand why it would need to be?

ETA - I just checked and the corporate site is in the links.

Nevermind.  It's just not one of the top sites, so doesn't appear on the main links page.

The driving school is just $470 which didn't sound like too expensive to me.  I think that sounds consistent with the pricing on other driving schools?  It'd be nice if they had more than one class a year though, seems to sell out fast.

Maybe it's time to get the FMCA Foretravel chapter reactivated?

Tom, Not gonna happen.  The FMCA Foretravel International Chapter is controlled by Foretravel Inc.  and they will not even discuss membership as they wish to keep control.

Likewise, FMCA has a strange relationship with Foretravel and they have no desire to allow anyone not a MOTORCADE Member to be a FMCA Member.
I know it is strange but that is the way it is.
Even stranger is that by being a member of the Motorcade you are also a member of FMCA Foretravel International but no MC member has any input to the FMCA Chapter.  As far as I was ever able to determine in the old FT Days FMCA Granted FT special membership in return for the advertising revenues that they gained from FT.
No one at either FT or FMCA seems willing to even discuss this situation so I gave up.
As far as forming a FOREFORUMS Chapter it could be done but last time we tried no one but a very very few wanted to participate as an officer.  Given that and the fact that FMCA Requires a minimum of 15 participants to form a chapter I don't see it happening.

I feel like I am following a rabbit down a rabbit hole.

Gary, are you telling me that my FMCA membership, that I have had since 1984 and with a Revcon and Winnebago, is now at risk?  Since my FMCA membership is with a Foretravel, if I fail to renew my Motorcade membership (which I am not even considering), then FMCA would toss me out the door?

Not Gary, but no, your FMCA membership would not be in jeopardy.  Rather, the "Foretravel International" chapter of FMCA is a pseudo-placeholder for Motorcade Club.

Tom, No you will still be a FMCA Member.
Main contention with Motorcade FMCA Relationship is that FMCA allows ( encourages ) members to visit other chapters, and of course the Motorcade does not allow that.
If you ever figure out the cockamamie relationship between the Motorcade, Foretravel and FMCA please let me know.  I tried everything I could to figure it out when the Foreforum was contemplating forming a chapter.

Tom, To muddy the waters some more.
As a FMCA Member you are encouraged to belong to as many FMCA chapters as you wish.  BUT, FMCA Foretravel International Chapter is restricted to MC Members only.  Seems to contradict FMCA's rules but that is how it goes.
