Dinette Table - 1997 U295

Good afternoon!  When we purchased our coach, the leaf was in the dinette table.  It appears as though the previous owner tweaked the design a touch to beef up the table and keep the leaf in permanently.  Thought I would post a few pics and get your advice as I am sure others have this set up.

The first picture is the table with the leaf in.  The second picture is underneath.........there is a piece of wood that is attached at the seam.  Is that normal?  May have been added for strength?  The third picture shows what looks like a few screws added to keep it from moving.

Thoughts?  Does anyone have pictures of  what it should look like?  The table is very sturdy and to be honest may not mess with, however don't need the leaf in and would prefer to have a little more room.

Thanks in advance for any pics / suggestions.

Looks like a owner mod.
That table is designed to slide out, mine never had a LEAF, I suspect that the top was modified to make it bigger and it no longer will slide.

mine had the extra leafr and I bet it is only silicone3d in plaqce. See if you can see it and maybe a sharp knife will slice under that piece of wood and join so it can be removed.
I took out top off and cut a big piece off it then put it back so only around 12" deep. Much better use and room around

The table looks like the one in our 1997 U295, except we have no leaf. All four edges of the table have the molded edges. The table will slide out from the wall, but we have no leaf to fill the gap between the wall and the edge of the table.

Hi Kevin,
Our 1997 U 320 is just like JD's. It slides off the wall, and is finished on all four sides. No piece to fill in the gap when pulled off the wall.

Looks like ours.  Lift out the leaf which stores in the middle closet against the rear wall and slide the table top in and twist the latch.

We like using it when there is a view through the front window then we both squish in the rear side.

Kevin,

Ours is built like yours and we have the leaf. The leaf has wood wood glued to it just like yours. The leaf just sets down it the space that is created when you pull the table from the wall. Here is a couple of pics of our leaf.

Kevin, your is identical to our original OEM kitchen table. We don't have a leaf to fit into the space if the table is pulled out. We never pull the table out.

my comment was made after I had figured that you had tried to take it out as others suggested but it had been permanently attached due to what you said!!!
I still cut mine down as did not need such an ungainly looking top right there. It also had a table lamp fastened to it so got rid of that from there too. Now that area looks sensible.

Ours looks just like yours. We do not have the leaf. I sure would like to have one; we have the extra chairs for the table, but without the leaf, they are not useable.

If anyone has a leaf they wish to sell, let me know.

Thanks to all for your quick responses regarding our dinette table!

Pamela & Mike, thanks for the pictures!  Does the underside of the dinette look the same as the picture that I posted?  Thinking I may have to remove the two screws to slide the table open enough to remove the leaf.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin,

After looking at your pic again it looks like you have several screws that were added by the previous owner. Here is what ours looks like from the factory. If you need any other views just let us know.
