AquaHot Started Delivering a Good Deal of Smoke All Come to Sudden

So I turned it off and it shut down after it cooled down.

Any idea what the smoke means?

Mine was the fuel nozzle.

Is the smoke white?  Then nozzle is number one guess.

Is the smoke black?  The burner loose in its mounts is number one guess.  Turn off and do not run till fixed by properly securing the burner in place.

Is the smoke white steam?  Crack in the burn chamber leaking coolant is the number one guess.  Really bad news.

There can be other reasons but these are first guesses.

Rudy, isn't white smoke for a few minutes early in the season or after sitting a while normal?
No RV! Have hung up the keys.

Like you said, a little is not a cause for concern on start up.  It should clear quickly and run clear and very little smell.  Many burners that are run daily emit no vapor on start up.

I see my title was misleading.

The white smoke appeared after the AH ran on diesel for some hours.

Unlesss advised not to, I'll start our AH up on diesel tomorrow in thr clear light of day.

Let it run and see what occurs. If still emitting white smoke, first guess will be nozzle.

Fuel line leaking air is cause for white smoke but your lines are  new. So let us know what happens.

Well, I started the AH and white smoke came out right away. Shut it down.

Under the circumstances is it OK to frun AH on electric?

Electric is separate from diesel, so let the electric run all you want.

Replace nozzle as you can or let one of the folks at Q fix it.

 the nozzle can be checked for setting as there is a tool inside unit for checking the position etc. Do it at Q as he said, there will be a few people that should be able to do it, and I will be there too for a few days.

I think the tool John is referring to is for checking the gap on the electrodes.
