Tyre wear

Just working on friends CC again anf he shows me the weird wear pattern on Tag tires. Phot is not the best but wondered if any of you Tag owners have seen this and have any ideas. They are Toyo as all are and 3 yrs old and in 2014 he had it aligned at CC. The outside pattern is normal but centre section is badly/enevenly worn down and I believe air pressure is same as rest.
Comments maybe?

John,
Being the village idiot, would guess mostly camber, psi with slight toe issue  ;D

On our Nimbus the Duals should be 90 PSI and the Tags should be 70 PSI as they carry a lot less load.  If they are the same pressure as the Duals with less load they may bounce causing some weird wear.

John,

I'm not sure how CC sets up their tag axle coaches, but I do know the air pressures recommended for FT tags are lower than the drive axle pressures for a given "overall" back end weight (of course, it's always best to know the actual wheel weights  Typically something like 15-20 psi lower.

For example, in our coach, we run 105 front, 85 drive, 75 tag based on our RVSEF wheel weighing.

I do recall former FT owners Tom and Bill (txforetravel) experienced unusually high center wear on the tag tires of their 2002 - they were originally inflated to match the rest of the coach at something like 100 psi and that's just too high for the weight the tag carries.  On our FT the tag is a 9000 lb max rated axle, so no reason to inflate the tires beyond what the tire chart calls for at 4500 lbs each end (no lower than minimum inflation,  thus 75 psi in our tag for our XZA3 LRH tires)

Could it be wear from not lifting the tag while making slow speed turns/maneuvers?

John,

After looking over the pic. a couple of times are those shocks Koni adjustable?  If so check and see where they are set.  If they have been loosened off along with over inflation of the tire could cause the tire to bounce down the road and cup the tread.

There was a note on the CC site warning about loose tag axle attaching bolts on some coaches--- I would certainly check for that!

I already checked for loose bolts and  no problems that way. The nuts have a sealant between them and bolt so if they moved you can see it right away-someone was thinking right on that issue.
Thanks for ideas, today he is going to look at the pressure issue as at a FMCA Rally someone checked the weight all around and told him the pressures he needed and his Tags ARE higher than what has been said on forum so far ie  same as driving.
We will check this issue out and lower pressure. Would love some feedback from the Pheonix and heavier coach owners on their settings as his CC is around the 50,000 mark off the top of my head.

That sure looks like the kind of wear a dual axle trailer picks up when it spends time backing out in tight corners. I'm going with Jim and Doreen's theory.
