Empty weight

We're in the process of switching our domicile from Missouri to South Dakota. They base the cost of license plates on the empty (unladen) weight of the vehicle. I've checked Beam Alarm and found only the gross weight. Jo Ann called Foretravel and that's all they could come up with, too. Since we're now full-time in the coach, and I have a full tank of fuel, I'm not really thrilled with trying to find a place where we can put all the stuff in the coach just to take it into town somewhere to get it weighed. Does anyone have something official that gives an empty weight for a 1993 U300 40' coach?

Even though you said Foretravel only had gross weight, I thought they had empty weight documentation for models a few years later. So maybe they still have it for your coach.
What does South Dakota need for documentation?  Will they accept a calculated adjustment to something official or do they need an 'official' document?

Ideally, something from Foretravel with the empty weight on it. Failing that, an email from Foretravel would suffice. A weight slip would also work, and I have one, but it is with full fuel, water, and propane. If I can't come up with anything better, I'll use that. At least for the Jeep, South Dakota uses a weight range, so if they do that for the Foretravel, too, my scale weight may be close enough.

I'd still like to have something official, though.

No, the VIN plate (on the wall next to the driver) gives GAWR for front and rear and GVWR. Larry (from Your Best Address) said some coaches have a sticker "hidden" in a closet, back of a cupboard door, etc. I've looked all over the coach and haven't found anything like that. Anyone else find one?

Would the title have the empty weight?
When I bought mine it showed up on the paper work at 31260. The GVWR on the plate is 34880.

Bruce, that's what Larry was hoping, too. Unfortunately, Missouri (where we're currently domiciled) doesn't care about weights for motorhomes.

John, that's how the Jeep is (2-4000 pound category), so maybe my scale slip will be good enough.

Scott, I'll post here what I find.

My coach registration costs $2 per year more than my motorcycle in Nashville... :)

When we "moved" to South Dakota in 2005, they required a weight from a certified scale.

My weight is from a CAT scale. I think I'll scan that weight ticket and email it to Larry and see what he says.
