A couple door dead bolt questions

1. Our servo quit working and now makes a whirring noise whenever I push the Lock/Unlock switch. Bay locks still work. Does this mean the servo needs to be replaced (in which case I will order replacement before taking the door apart) OR did it just get disconnected?
2. To remove the inner door panel, do I need to remove the inner ring holding the window?
Thanks, Dick

The servo contains a small electric motor with worm gear to activate the lock.  Likely the gear has stripped and you are hearing the motor spin.

To remove the inner door panel you do need to remove the inner window ring.

In reality it is not that bad of a repair job.

On page two of tech talk is a complete writeup I did a few weeks ago on how to depanel a door with pictures.  I don't know how to insert a link.

It takes less than 30 minutes to depanel.  Make sure the window is stuck on tight when you take the inside trim ring off.

I also think I remember that the actuators made be hard to find.  They are different than the bay doors.

Thanks so much! Will call FOT tomorrow for servo. Great write up Rich!
I have been inside a door similar to this on our SOB, but it didn't require removing the widow ring. I remember the guy from PTL telling me that the moving parts should be lubed occasionally so I will do that at the same time.
