Shepard steering

I have a 1994 U300. The power steering gunny bagged on me. I have a new one in hand but need any advice you have on disconnecting the steering column attachment. Normally it's a simple process of un bolting the u joints and using the slack in the slip joint to pull the knuckle off of the input shaft. Not so here. There is not enough slack in the slip joint even if you disconnect both u joints. Any ideas?

David,

Release steering column at steering box input shaft.  Then remove 4 bolts that hold steering column to dash just below the steering wheel.  Pull steering column up off of steering box input shaft.
