Rearview Safety Cameras Quad

Does anybody here have one of these and would you recommend it?  I've outgrown the Audit system.

COSTCO sells some of the Rear View Safety stuff.  Highly rated.  It is on my wish list.  The 1998 monochrome, CRT unit is SO obsolete.

I purchased the system from COSTCO and a side camera from Rearview Safety. The system is installed and works great. The system will except 3 cameras so I can add a camera later, but two work great. I continue to use the crt monitor for tank  levels and the compass. I mounted the new monitor from above. The monitor is centered on the steering wheel with the bottom at the same level as the top of the windshield. Works better than mounted in the dash. The system comes with a remote that I mounted on the steering wheel. I can switch between cameras without taking hands off of wheel or eyes off of road. The passenger side mounted camera will display a vehicle on the monitor until it is visable in the passenger side window. Real improvement over crt in dash for rearview function. Total cost about $300.00.

The camera went bad in my 96' U320, so I bought a TFT color 7" monitor and camera on eBay for $69 to replace the obsolete CRT Audit.  I installed the camera yesterday, and just for the heck of it hooked it up to the audit system.  Much to my surprise, the new camera works perfectly with the old system with very good resolution and range marks added.  I'll leave it hooked up until I figure out how to mount the new monitor.  The new monitor will accept 2 cameras, so I will probably add a side unit.

Robert,
We have a friend that we camp with that just installed one of these in there coach. They haven't taken it out for a long trip yet but just testing with a trip or two around our town loop and it was real impressive. He was able to reuse the original power/coax cable that feed the rear camera and that saved a lot of work.  7" Quad Monitor with DVR Backup Camera Safety Systems for Truck Trailer RV |...

I also reused the original coax cable and power feed to the rear camera, so the only retiring I did was adding a ground wire for the camera about a foot long down to the clock above the bed.
Th unit I bought came with a wireless transmitter and receiver, but I didn't use it.

I just installed a side camera. After I drilled a wire hole I was in the P/S Dash C/B Panel. Very easy and you can get your 12vdc there.
Running wires front to back in the belly of the coach. Heres how I got access to pull many wire runs thru several times.

After you drop the bay ceiling panel you can also run a fish to the rear of coach from there. Add an extra wire or pull cord in case you need additional wires in the future.

I just placed an order on eBay for one of these, $35 and change:

4 Ch Mini Color Video Quad Splitter Processor Switcher for CCTV Security Camera

4 CH Mini Color Video Quad Splitter Processor Switcher for CCTV Security...

I'll report back after it arrives, in three or four weeks.

My coach came from the factory with two side cameras.  The original owner didn't want them automatically selected by the turn indicator, so there is an unreliable pushbutton switch on the steering column that is worthless.  So I don't use them.

My plan is to try this out, and put either three or four screens on the existing pop-up monitor.  I like this splitter since it has options for three screens, or four in two arrangements.  With four screens I can try showing all three cameras plus the holding tank status screen.  We'll see how it works.

This has got to stop. Every time I think I'm done with mods and upgrades someone posts something that I just have to add to our coach. This looks like a must have to me  ;D
