Don't sell your rv to cheap

I contacted my insurance company to renew my insurance. My present insurance company will no longer insure rvs so the new company gave me what they felt my 95 U320se was worth. Before I only insured for the cash value I paid for it. For a few dollars more it will be for the full replacement cost. I was very surprised at what they valued this 20 year coach. So for those of you planning on selling your older foretravel don't give it away. It appears that people are starting  to appreciate the value of these fine old coaches. I hope this trend continues.

Joe, review your policy pages, after it is issued, to see if the insurance company is really insuring collision & comprehensive at a stated replacement value.

Thanks for the tip Barry and Cindy, yes the collision and comp is for the stated value. Al the underwriter is Brown&Brown in Tampa fl. and the insurance company is Allied Insurance a Nationwide insurance Co.

I think it's better to make it an "agreed value" policy. That way it is explicitly stated.

I hope you're right.  I decided to keep mine for the time being as I don't plan to give it away.

Just a thought but if the coach is in good mechanical shape why not do a refurbishment. Ours coach was refurbed in 2009 at Foretravel in NAC. We love it and would be hard pressed to even consider purchasing a  newer one. Depending upon the condition of your coach and your desires a complete refurb could run from $30,000 to $50,000. Granted one would probably never get back the full investment but it is no worse than depreciation of a newer coach and probably less of a loss and you know what you have.

Kent I couldn't agree more. When I purchased my coach I got a super deal. It seems that based on what I spent my coach is actually appreciating so refurbishing makes sense to me. Now all I need are the funds.

Just a thought, but as we true believers know our FTs are built like a train and it is not likely we would ever wear one out.  So if I was the factory, I might be a buyer of used FTs and do the refurbishing and resell them.  That would give the factory a great product to sell at an attractive price point.  I was at the factory in Aug. of 09 when Kent's coach was in the white.  I said to my friend who was having a repaint of his '97 that it really makes sense (cents) to refurbish an otherwise sound coach.

Well I practically have done it to our 94U225 within the last 17-18 months. Just got back from Foretravel .
Last major work just got done, converted the dash air to new AC freon system.
There is no bolt/nut detail have not not been touched/replaced/upgraded.
But now i have a problem .. Monday while i was at the FT I test drove a 2002 U320  :-[  >:D  8) ... Just as my U225 was finalizing her updates.  They say a house becomes most clean and updated just before it is sold. Love our FT .. i could not let it go.

Don't think spending more on it is wise. She looks almost new inside except I'd recover captain's chairs and dash. Outside is good except decals are fading somewhat, mainly front small ones. Biggest need is to replace rear torsilastic should she slip below spec (no more shims) but she's been stable for a long time. I'd also shore up the roloks but again I only have a few broken after testing with torque wrench so not necessary yet.  I did a front TV upgrade to LED and new A/C units. The ceramic floors look great as does original carpet. Bath looks great too.  Window treatments perhaps but for a 1992...I think she's up for any trip anywhere. I was asking $25000 including the 97 Tracker 4x4 toad but had little interest. Cheaper to keep her at less than that.
