Stuck at campsite. Help! U320 single slide. Slide will not latch closed.

Slide will operate in and out.  We are level.  It is showing upper rear pin will not set in closed position. I have run out of ideas.

Sunday and can't reach HWH.

Thanks,

David

Hopefully John S. will chime in - I found his troubleshooting guide on Barry's site

Here's another thread, but talking about the locking pins on a 2002 slide out problem

ETA found another post where John S. describes his issue Slide Issue

Thanks Michelle. Brad Slaughter had some info in archives about an override to move coach. I sent him a IM.

Are you still stuck.  If so it is not seeing the slide in. the best thing to do is take the header off and then remove and switch the two slide in sensors.  They are little black tubes that hang down next to the slide block locking pin.  Before you do that though.  Bring the slide in and hold the button and then shake the slide from the top a bit. It might read then and lock.  If all else fails, go under your coach and open up the silver HWH box and throw the switch in the corner. That is your transmission interlock.  You can drive that way but the level light will be on and the chime will ding.

I had the same experience , when we purchased our coach, It came with the leveling light on , and that switch on the hwh box was in fact turned of, we had a heck of a time figuring out how to rectify this .
In the end all it was .  was a blowing fuss in the hwh box . So you may want to check those fusses, I believe it was a 5 amp fuss. Ones we replaced it the problem was solved. The slide locks engaged and the light went out
Good luck.

The slide lock is a 40 amp fuse.  Why, I do not know as it is in series and only needs 10 amps.  The the fact that only one pin is not pinning is probably the room in sensor on that pin or the t switch underneath being broken. You can use a magnet on that t switch and run it up and see if the lock light goes on. If it does, you will need a new t switch and they are easy to replace.

First off, many thanks to Brad Slaughter. He called me and we were able to get on the road by locating switch to allow us to go into gear.

Home now and the slide still does not lock on closure.  (May not when it is out also). I am going to call HWH in the morning. The panel with the green lights as John writes indicates the rear upper lock is not closing.

I do not understand the process of sliding a magnet over switch?

Thanks,

David

On the lock block where the pin is located is a wire about half way up.  It is a t shaped insert that if you slide a magnet up and down will send a signal that it it is locked. That assumes the pin us already in but not locking.  If the pin will not fire then the room in sensor is the issue to look at.

I did not know your coach used that particular configuration and figure this about resolved anyway.

But it prompts an important lesson i learned.

On a recent trip, a friend mentioned slide and hwh light problem.  Worried not goung to move or the slide may go out while driving.

Keith Risch was in the park and heard of the issue, volunteered to help, would I help and owner agree?

My help was to simply help take the header valance off of the slide.  Wood screws to remove, hold the end up.

Keith suspected and it proved true.  The magnet was in the all the way up position.  It needed to be lowered, to about .25 inches above the detector.  Two needed this adjustment.  Do not go too far down Keith admonished or those can hit as the slide has it is moved in.  It seems that whoever worked on the slide for a new bladder may have forgotten to run the magnets closer to the detector.  This solved it.

This was on a 2002, hope it helps.
