Dodged a bullit

We have been going back and forth between Billings and Miles City Montana for about month helping out at Eileen's former job ( the livestock commission burned to the ground) Well after spending the 4th at home in Billings I headed to Miles city this morning takes about two hours everything working great no problems. Stopped at the yards and Katie and I walked over to see Eileen and on the way back I notice a bunch of oil all over the back of the coach, got that sick feeling in my stomach, opened  the hatch and I see oil every where I start looking around and thought the pump was shot. So I starting cleaning up the mess  to get a better look at what could be the issue. Get it cleaned up and check power steering, engine oil and Hyd oil and low and behold Hyd is about empty. So I run to the parts store and get a gallon and fill it back up. Fire it up and the pump fitting is leaking. I found it lose put a wrench on it and tighten it up drove it to the camp site where we are staying and all is good no leaks.
At least not so far.

Love it when its something simple right off the bat! Lost all Turbo pressure on a trip to Fall Creek Falls over the Holidays. Pulled over lifted the bed and WALLA boot had come off en route to fresh air cooler.

Yep, you dodged one. Our first coach caught it full on. Coming back from a race, towing the car and the engine note changed just slightly. I just had time to lift and turn to codriver and start to ask "did you hear that" when it seized up, never to turn again. That 6.2 diseasel transferred its oil from the crankcase to the curbside coachwork in a heartbeat and that was that.

Glad you caught that right away.  Another example of why a walk around every time we stop is a good idea.

Now you will have to clean up all of the oil that is everywhere.  If you only put in a gallon to fill it up then you caught it early. I think when I had the steering gear seal go I lost about 2 + gallons of oil and it was all the way down the side and back of the coach.

Yes after reading some of the post about fan Hyd going south I really got a gift. and thinking about my trip when I stopped at a rest area to let Katie out I id my walk around and old habit from my Trucking Days and saw nothing, So it must have happened in the last 50 miles of my trip.

I would say that having to clean up all that oil over the rear of the coach is getting hit by the bullit.  Maybe not a repair issue but a sure work effort.
