Knoedler Air Ride Seat Help ...

We recently replaced the main up/down air switch because it had cracked and was leaking air. With the help of our Technical Support Staff the repair was made properly.  We had to turn off the air at the valve coming into the coach, which FOT located on the wall just behind the seat. The valve has a sort of locking knob that requires you to push it down to turn the valve and adjust the air pressure.  For some reason, the knob seems to be frozen and we cannot get it to open and allow air to the chair!  All the electrical parts of the chair are operating correctly and the chair aired up nicely after the new switch was repaired. We turned it off again for some other reason and now it is "frozen". I am scared to torque the thing too hard ... disaster threatens. Any ideas??

Carol,
If your Knoedler seat air Regulator is like mine (shows "SMC" name, made in China, on the gauge dial) the regulator pressure adjustment knob has to be pulled out, away from the regulator body, not pushed in toward the regulator, in order to adjust the regulator set pressure.  If the adjustment knob is pushed in, the adjustment knob is locked in place.  When it is pulled out, it displays an orange band and the set pressure may be adjusted up and down.  The adjustment knob "slider" does not move easily.  I assume that is so that it doesn't get accidentally moved/changed.
Hope this is your key,
Neal

Yup.  Typically, we were doing things backwards. I can feel, while turning the knob either + or -, that there is more or less tension. But ... no air appears to be getting to the valve. the needle on the gauge just never moves.  Where would you go from here?

Thanks for all the help you all....  I was doing the adjustment backwards.  Think I will let Carol do all thinking from now on....

Aaaannnnddd .... now everything works!  We have no clue whatsoever why suddenly, one day, the seat aired up and the next day it would not. It worked just fine after replacing the cracked switch, and for many days after that repair. Then it didn't.  Now it does. As with many things on this coach that we have lived in for the past 4 years ... it's a mystery.  We were obviously doing something wrong ... but for the life of me, I cannot figure out where we went wrong. That is both disturbing and humorous.  Because it was "second hand", we did not get any sort of Owner's Manual with the seat, I cannot find anything on Knoedler's website that speaks to the air valve.  The pressure for the seat is now set at 100psi and Mr. Wonderful will be floating down the road once again. Thanks to all for your help!!

I was told to set it at 90 but who knows there is no manual but that is what FT said when they installed it.

Why didn't you ask? I remembered that it was pull instead of push.
