Winn fuel pre filter bypass-- fitting size

On the road, and of course have had a no start this morning due to aan air leak in the Winn system.  Anyone know the size fittings I need to accomplish a bypass?  I believe that I need 5/8" flare fittings, but not sure.

John - as near as I can measure it, it is 5/8".

Another question would be what kind of flare is it; 45-degree SAE style or 37-degree AN style, also used with the JIC system like on our air dryers?

I'm thinking it is the 37 degree AN style JIC.  Pretty sure I won't find that at the local hardware store.  I changed the O rings on the Winn, retightened the wing nut and got it going--- about an hour.  I always carry a few spare O rings.

If you took proper care of the Winn system, you would never have an issue, simply requires a new plastic filter bowl with O Rings every few years and no more air leaks has been our experience.

I fixed the Winn three times all by experienced line guys and finally the cummins shop in so cal bypassed it as the dyno figures were down 20%

The mechanic used to work at a thousands of trucks company and remembered constant issues with the Winn. 

Lots of time and repairs later I replaced the unit. 

Like I was told to do by my x Foretravel dealer top mechanic when I first got the coach.

The OP asked a question about how to bypass the Winn given it was being problematic at the moment.  The snarky response about "you should have done XYZ maintenance" doesn't help or answer their question, all it does is give other new members pause and make them question if they should post a question when they have a problem.  No one wants to be attacked for asking a question or sharing valuable experience.

Foreforums is about members helping each other, and it really bothers me frosts my backside when I read posts such as that one which doesn't help and is apparently intended to make the OP feel like they did something wrong.  You don't know the history or situation, and to post in a belittling tone is not appropriate and is not welcome here.

When I had a problem with the Winn system, I was told to use Vaseline around the top and bottom of the filter in the area where the o rings seal to keep air from being drawn in. This worked for a while until the Vaseline got hot and melted away. I then tried bearing grease and that worked considerably better. I have since changed to the Racor system to alleviate the ongoing problem.

Sorry if I offended.  Incorrect response versus the straight size of the fitting needed.

Probably my frustration after spending $1.500 to trouble shoot a leaking Winn unit.

Hopefully someone here will do exactly only what the poster asked for.  No deviations

My Winn pre filter was changed 2 months ago at Foretravel along with all the other fuel filters on the coach.  I carry a full set of spares and also several sets of O rings for the Pre filter including the 2 not included in the kit that most folks don't know are required (size 118 nitrile) that fit over the end tubes.  This is not my first rodeo, and not the first time the Winn pre filter has developed an air leak--- most other folks have experienced the same issue.  I already have a raycor system but did not have time to replace the unit before leaving on our trip. I'll get it installed as soon as I get home and have no more issues.  I have logged another 1000 miles since the no start 2 days ago without further issue.
