New upholstery started 94 U280

Just got my captains chairs, dash and sun visors back today. I think he did a great job! Hope to get them installed this weekend. Here are Before and After pics. Still have a long way to go....but making progress.

Curious question.... was seat removal an issue? We have similar pilot-copilot seating from Flexsteel, and it appears getting them out to re-upholster could be a real chore. On ours the base-plate bolts have nuts below the floor, which appear to be nearly impossible to get to. Thanks!

Chad,

Much easier to remove the 4 bolts/nuts securing the chair to the pedestal than to remove the pedestal from the floor.

While off, properly tighten the center swivel nut to remove play, but allow easy rotation.  Often, play develops over time as the bearing surface wears.  This allows the chair to wobble. A one minute cure that will be appreciated.

Thanks Brett; It's obvious I need to get down on the floor and re-study the sitciation! I have heard there is a package-deal from FlexSteel to replace all of the foam pieces and would like to do that before my lower-back gives-up. We have only minimal "wobble" on both chairs; will follow your advice. Again, thanks!

Just like Brett said ...I removed the 4 bolts between the seat and the pedestal.  I left the pedestal attached to the floor.

Since you said "cash only" and we're the "plastic carrying kind" what kind of cash are we talking about? ;D

Sorry....been off for a while...no unfortunately he will not take plastic.  $$ only. He charged me $1600 labor and materials to do both captains chairs, both sun visors and the dash including the boxes on both sides.

Karl,

Seats look very nice.  Curious about the material you selected.  Is it leather, ultra-leather, vinyl?  I believe the cost may vary quite a bit depending on the material used.

Thanks,

Mike

I used vinyl. I was looking for the best color match to the cream colored fiberglass used in the GV. The tan insert is a very soft ostrich vinyl. Ultra leather would have been about $100 more.
