Peak Fleet charge antifreeze?

Has anyone used Peak Fleet Charge antifreeze? I plan on draining, flushing and refilling the coolant in our 8.3 Cummins. I have no idea what is in it now except that it is green and looks clean.  I have always used the "green stuff" and want to know if the "pink" is a good extended life coolant for diesels. By "flushing" I mean filling once with distilled water only and then filling with a 50/50 mix.
Any advice appreciated.

I would do initial flushed with tap water second flush with distilled water. Thrid filll half capacity of system with concentrate ,top off with distilled.

Most late model FT's, possibly including yours, came with ELC(red) coolant, originally Texaco ELC, then Shell.  I use Fleetguard ES Compleat ELC.

I did our Cummins M11 about a month ago with Peak Final Charge Global. After flushing several times and installing a new water filter, I put in 8 gallons of the full-strength antifreeze and then added sufficient distilled water to finish filling the system.

I'm using Peak Final Charge OAT coolant rather than Fleet Charge which requires SCA additives.  It seems to work well and its nice not having to worry about adding anything to it.

thanks for the info, I will look for a local source of Final Charge Global (OAT)
Also see they have Global (NOAT) with nitrite?

I read their Website information about both types and saw no advantage to the NOAT version. The OAT version appeared to have a longer lifetime and so that's what I used.

Walmart usually has Final Charge Global- 50/50 premix for around $13.50/gal.

Using pre-mix makes getting a 50/50 mixture a LOT harder.  Remember the gallons of residual water (hopefully distilled in final rinse) in the 5/8" lines from engine to dash heater core and heater core itself!

Easy to blow the water out with compressed air from your tire fill line.

Matt,

Yes, but the larger issue is preventing an air lock.  The cooling system now has to "process" that many more gallons of air.

Your decision.

Has anyone used the same Peak Final Charge Global in their Kubota powered Powertech generator?
Or is that unnecessary and just use the standard "green stuff" without SCA additives?

The Powertech manual appears to indicate that standard antifreeze is appropriate (no SCA required).

I run caterpillar ELC in everything. Finest coolant on earth. Just make sure to replace your coolant filter with one that doesnt have the additives. (I got a cat oem filter)

Yup, the correct filter for the OAT-based coolants such as ELC is called a BLANK.  It is a filter, but with zero units of SCA.

I also ran Caterpillar ELC in my motorhomes with Cat engines.  But, if a Cummins, prefer to go with a Cummins/Fleetguard product, so that if it is ever in for service at a Cummins dealer, they will have the same coolant on the shelf.

Why flush with water? Drain coolant and flush with new. It was always clean, right?!!???!

If the coolant is clear and uncontaminated, I don't flush with chemicals or water.  I just drain and refill with the same coolant I always use.  If you don't know the coolant that's in there, you have no choice but to flush.  If you flush with water, hopefully you can get undiluted coolant so can get obtain the correct freeze protection.

Napa has Peak Final Charge Global (OAT) for $28 a gallon concentrate. I will return the Peak Fleet Charge. Dont want the worries of testing for SCA's. The ELC coolant should be good for 6 or 7 years.

You might also check the price at Advance Auto Parts. I think the price I paid was a little less than $28/gallon.

O'Reilly Auto Parts had the final charge concentrate for $23.99 a gallon two years ago. They were about the lowest price I could find.
They did not have enough on hand, but had it in the store two days later.

Our coach has the Shell Rotella extended life coolant in it and I found the concentrate at Tractor Supply for very little more than the premixed, so used it and distilled water
