Traveling to Nova Scotia

It has been a while, but we are finally going to travel with our GV

We are planning to leave NH Sunday and drive up to Nova Scotia and PEI.  Got the Jeep GC dressed up for towing, a big gas burner with a lobster pot and few bottle of wine.

Still no idea where to go exactly but will aim north and try to have the ocean at our side the whole time.

Hopefully we will make it [and back]

I just got back from there last week. Stop in at the visitor info centers as you enter each province (New Brunswick, NS, etc) and ask them for a map and the camping guide. It's really useful.

Do not miss the Cabot Trail and do it CLOCKWISE. A truly magnificent drive. There are very nice provincial parks at both ends, the one on the west side is Cheticamp, do not remember the name of the one over on the Atlantic side. There is also a campground up at the north apex of the drive, something or other oyster bar and campground. There is a bit of a climb at the entrance but the view of the Gulf of St Lawrence from the campground is to die for. Some sites may have 20 amps but figure on dry camping there. As I recall, it's been a spell, the provincial parks have water and 30 amps and dump site.

Be sure to go around Cape Briton .  We made that a day trip on the four wheel.. scenery is magnificent.  On P.E.I. visit the setting for the book Ann of Green Gables.  It is on the north shore.  You can take the bridge over and the ferry back to  the town of Pictou.  Nice campground and we had DirectTV on some channels.

We went up there a couple years ago. We enjoyed the Fundy National park on the way in New Brunswick.the bay of Fundy at low tide is a must see. We enjoyed the town of Baddeck on Bra de Or lake which is where Alexander Graham Bell lived. There's a nice museum there. The Cabot  trail around Cape Breton reminded us of the Pacific coast hi way around Big Sur. Spectacular views overlooking the Atlantic from a thousand feet. We also stayed at the Oyster bar campground. There was a nice cliffside resturant a couple miles  from there that had a great lobster bisq. More of a lobster shack then a resturant.

Thanks Guys,

Will aim for PEI then Cape Breton.  I hope to have the battery situation repaired today so we can start heading north.  I was told that Alexander Bell museum is great.

Any recommendation for campgrounds? That way would be greatly appreciated!

We love little hole in the wall - shacks  Our first date was at a lobster [Oyster] shack  [J's Oyster Bar Portland ME]  12 years and 2 kids later I can still pull that trick  8)

I hope the Batteries fairy would be kind to us as last night we had the lobsters and steamers at Chez Nous.

Merci, merci infiniment!

See previous post. The national park campground on the Cabot Trail heading north on the west side is
Cheticamp, the one on the southbound leg, Atlantic side is at Ingonish and is Broad Creek.
The one up on the Gulf of St Lawrence is  Hideway Campground and Oyster Bar.
Wish I were with you.

Eh bien, nous sommes ici!

Took us a while but the battery was replaced and off we went.

PEI is absolutely awesome.  My wife who has never been here thought she walked into a painting.  Moi, after the Lobster and Halibut diner thought I am in haven.  We ended up in Twin Shores Campground and Love It

Thanks for all your help!
