Badlands was Fantastic--Now on to MOT for Recuperation

Well, we finished the last leg of our fantastic Badlands trip and arrived back in Virginia via stops in Colorado and Ohio. The next outing is a solo trip back to the mothership for a Ocotober 12 service appointment.

The coach did really well but some routine service is due and some additional service needs arose during the trip. Going to run some of this by everyone to see any of the unusual items ring a bell.

Routine stuff is oil change which was last done in February, and genset and Hydro-Hot service (none done since purchase last year in May). The rest is not so routine.

I managed to lose my right mirror to a cement truck as I traversed the northern beltway around St. Louis. This was a five lane section with new, unmarked pavement. We both pulled over, but given the close proximity to Ferguson and the high-speed road race going on right next to us (the lack of lane markings apparently acts like a red flag to a bull to St. Louis drivers), we jointly opted to exchange minimal info and get the hell out of there. Mike Rodgers had an enjoyable time listening to me relate these antics and assured me the mirror would be ready for installation upon my arrival.

I think I may have a leak at the bottom of the windshield. We hit a couple of incredible downpours on the trip and noticed a watery bubble that would form at the very bottom where the gasket meets. Also noticed some fogging on the sides and bottom under excessively humid conditions.

As for the slides, I've had two weird things going on with the bedroom slides. I almost always hear a loud pop on the driver side slide upon both retraction and extraction. Have lubricated everything I can see with Corrosion X, but doesn't seem to make a difference. On the passenger side, I will need to do the HWH reset about 60-70% of the time when retracting the slide in order to get the orange light to start flashing. Never a problem on extending.

Toward the front end of our trip, about the third or fourth morning I think, I was doing my routine walk around before setting out and noticed something peculiar at the top edges of the coach at the rear. There appears to be a metal, plastic, or fiberglass weatherstrip or join of some kind that goes completely across the coach roof. It came up at the end on both sides. I'm going to try and attach photos at the bottom for reference. Anyone ever had this or know what is the function of this strip?

Regardless, I hope to find the answers to these and other questions during my visit back to MOT. Expect to be there probably all week, starting October 12th. Give a shout if you are going to be in town.

You might call xtreme as well to get on there schedule to get that fixed too.

Given the location, it appears to be located at the joint between the side/main roof section and the end cap.  Most likely there to prevent water penetration/delamination (recalling the 2002-2004 end cap issue) and should be looked at ASAP by either FOT or Xtreme.

Don, I too have a 2007 Nimbus and had similar problems you are having now. I have the unit built just before yours. My build is 6385 and you are 6386.

For the trim piece coming off the rear, that is because the screws used were very short. Need to replace those screws with longer ones and reseal the edges.

Now for the seals. I am assuming you have the original seals in your slide outs. These older seals were known for many problems and failures. I have to replace all my seals on the slide outs with the newer style. What you are describing is a slide seal rolling, one of the many problems I am speaking off. The cure is to replace the seal. I have logged over a fifty issues that I have had to attend to in my 2007 Nimbus. Send me a private message and I will be glad to share those issues.
