Air dryer rebuild question
I'm rebuilding my Pure Air Plus. I'm using the Haldex upper and lower rebuild kits and replacing the Isolation valve.
When I took the dryer apart I did not notice any powder and no water or foreign particles inside the unit.
The dryer was functioning fine when I removed it.
Inside of the dryer I did notice mounds of what appear to be a grease similar to the grease supplied with the rebuild kits for applying to the O-rings. I did not read in the re-build instructions about using this grease any place other than to coat the O-rings.
I thought perhaps somebody had re-built the unit before me and caked the grease on the O-rings and it ran and settled below the valves in a thick puddle.
Am I correct that grease should NOT be present anyplace except to lube the O-rings?
And if so, only a light coating?
