Shower Door Enclosure

Have any of you replaced your gold shower door enclosure with a chrome one. Irvine Shade and door looks like the one I have now but it lists available in Gold. I'd love to redo my bath with chrome fixtures. Any Ideas that wont break the bank?

Stump, we are hoping to do the same to ours this winter. I will be following your progress closely. We have been looking at either replacing with new chrome, or taking the existing gold and having it anodized or powder coated. My main concern before starting is how to get everything out without damaging it.
Stay in touch.

We haven't done it yet but the source for the original shower enclsure for our 2001 is Alumax. You can't buy the parts directly but there are many dealers around that can help.  Parts are available in several finishes.  With some care the glass parts can be reused.
Your 91 may have used a different source.  A call to FT will help.

I like the powder coated option too but will likely try to do a brushed nickel look.

The PO of my coach had all the gold in the coach powder coated in bronze.  We are grateful that he did.

Stump, might be worth investigating to see if a "chrome look" powder coating would be satisfactory.

Brass plated parts of our shower enclosure were removed, powder coated, and reinstalled without damage.  Time consuming, but not difficult.  Everything screws together except towel bar/door handle which was reattached with adhesive discs intended for attaching rear view mirrors.

Company we use for powder coating said the shower enclosure by itself would be about $125.00.

It would be interesting to have a glass frameless enclosure and a base made out of corian.  I would guess a local shower/glass guy could do it.  :D

Stump,
I think you are right about Irvine being the manufacturer.  I think the p/n is SP4857TSGAGSD. Triple Slide Glass Shower Door, 48" x 57". Poulsbo RV They call it a Triple Slide Glass Shower Door, 48" x 57", but they don't seem to be made any more but there are still listings.  Even so, gold is the only color I have been able to find mention of.

I still have my original.  With the triangular shaped shower in our SAI floor plan, refitting a new door is a challenge.  The toilet blocks a standard outward swing door and an inward swing can't be done because you can't get enough clearance to get behind the door to close it.  A two piece sliding door might work but I don't know if they make them in that size or if the opening will be big enough.  There are also retractable (non-glass) doors that I think would work but I don't know about how good they look.  So powder coating is probably a good choice if all the plastic track hardware is still in good shape and you can find a color you like.  Never heard of chrome powder coat before but sounds like an interesting option.

When we were checking on powder coating our lamps the coating company I went to said they did not have chrome but had a metallic silver. To me it looked more like brushed nickel, but that was OK with me.

I think brushed nickel is the color objective
