Shock Absorber Part # for 86GV Oshkosh

Hi,

I've been reading through the past posts looking for some part numbers for Shock Absorber for my 1986 GV, info below, and was hoping someone may have already done this research and is willing to share thier findings?

1986 Grand Villa
Truck Make: Oshkosh
Turck Model: V-917-2

Front Shock:
Rear Shock:

For the Air Springs: (Thanks to "Protech Racing" post eight months back)
Front: Firestone W01-358-9332
Rear: Firestone W01-358-9070

I think I may have found the answer in a post... cut and paste for others and to say a big thanks to "Protech Racing", seems we have the same Oshkosh Truck Model (V-917)... Regards Bob

BILSTEIN Shocks Front F4-BE5-6078-H0 Tuthill Granning Motorhome Chassis PAIR NEW

 These have the correct range and are pretty close for stiffness in my Oshkosh 917.  I like the ride with them .  I bought a second set in case the rears are the same.

*** Local the FireStone was $222.10 each, special order, no frieght charge... Total would have been $444.20***

 I used the Conti numbers. I posted them on the parts thread.  about 100$ per .
  As far as the shocks, I still would like more control  . I am considering adding another shock for each front wheel.
 The bus is great in FL. but only so- so in the North. Sux  on places of  401 .

To close out this post I've provided the information discovered about the Oshkosh Truck Model V-917 suspension (1986).

A big thanks to "Protech Racing" for providing me with an ebay source for shocks!!! That source lead to my dive into the information below.

Base Spec's: *plz note I have not been able to find these spec's in my tech manuals provided by Oshkosh*

1. Bilstein 24-020930 / 24-186414 FRONT 4600 Heavey Duty (B6) Shock Absorber
- The Bilstein 24-020930 / 24-186414 are high pressure nitrogen gas filled (360 psi) monotube shocks.
- Old Part Number: F4-B46-2093-M1
- Upper Mount Type: Eye 19.1 mm (3/4 in)
- Lower Mount Type: Eye 19.1 mm (3/4 in)
- Est Cost: $85.00 to $105.00 US Dollars each

2. Monroe 65412 RV Gas Magnum FRONT
- Compressed Length: 15.750 in
- Extended Length: 25.219 in
