HWH Auxiallary Air Compressor

It is a bigger (but not much) compressor, two air outlets and it had a desiccant air dryer. The air plumbing changed and a switch was added to the front drivers side switch panel as well.  It should work in a 2000.  If you need a new compressor then,it might npbe OK.  More money.  If your OEM compressor is weak or not working a rebuild kit is only about $100. New pumps can be found for under $300.  The same compressor new at Ft is over $700.  These will never really be something that can inflate tires for example.  i have a pretty compact 120v 200 psi compressor that I can bring with if I want to ahve it along. 

I would like to replumb mine more like the 2002s.  They can charge the coach air system and bring it up to level before you start the engine.  (And provide air from the aux air connection for bike tires)

Roger, at the Ladies Driving Class James Triana opened a front tank drain valve.  Rusty water came out.  A front tank.  A fairly new IH45.  Which reminded me, I think there was a discourse, and noted by James or the audience, that the residence time for the desiccant is too short to protect really well against moisture....and what is important is to frequently drain the tanks, get moisture out.  I am not 100% on this, others may recall differently, but for me I was left a bit skeptical of desiccant.

I was going to upgrade the aux compressor on the 01 to the larger compressor and technicians talked me out of it, said lets get yours going right.  That is when I found the leaking slide bladder shutoff valve and Risch then the cracked "bowl".  Major major improvement, aux doing great.  The change over to the larger compressor, they thought, not worth the effort versus getting this one right.  But then again mine was not dead nor could I have done the work myself, saving a coach buck, to install the one as the '02.

Let us know Trent how it works out if you change, what involved, cost, photos.  Would be a nice reference project if not already done, guess you searched the Forum to check on that.

I replace mine with a Puma 1/2-HP 12-Volt Continuous Duty Tankless Air Compressor, $229.
You have to upgrade the wiring and circuit breaker.
At 90lbs it does .96CFM with 135lbs max operating pressure.

It is MUCH larger and mounted to floor of bay instead of up high in pay

Tim, are you thinking of the compressor that is used to power the awning?  That one is mounted on the floor. The HWH 2002 compressors I have seen were mounted on the shelf like the 2001 and had a desiccant bowl.  Maybe be it has more output.
