plugged exhaust

96 U280 C8.3 anyone ever have a plugged exhaust. I am getting high exhaust temps ( 800 degree on flat and 1300 on a hill. max boost is 26) and its fall on its face up hills. Air filter is new and no restrictions on the intake

26 psi boost is about 5 psi above stock specs. Does that have the banks kit Installed?
Seems to me you would not be getting those boost numbers with plugged exhaust are you sure your brakes aren't dragging...

Fuel lines go bad and may be leaning out the motor? Leaks in my 320's Winn system also causes issues.

You may have an issue with the muffler.

When muffler grows old occasionally the internal baffle's break down
(come loose) and fall into the exhaust stream, restricting flow..

No way to check it (that I'm aware of) other than replacing the muffler.  pc

My Banks on the 8.3 goes up to 34lbs on a good climb so those numbers are low for a Banks. I would say take that exhaust off and put in Resonator and see the light of day. As P change said your muffler has collapsed.

John, You have electronic fuel delivery system on your 8.3 vs a 1996 8.3  mechanical. Totally different Banks System.
Takes boost to add fuel on the mechanical and surely he's doing that with his exhaust temperatures....Not sure he could achieve the boost that he's seeing with restriction in the exhaust. No doubt a resonator is an easy and cheap upgrade.

Have you had your valves adjusted and injection pump timing done?  Incorrect timing could lead to the symptoms you are describing.

Also, are you sure that you are getting the correct fuel pressure to the injection pump, as a lack of fuel pressure will lead the engine to drop off when the it starts spinning fast.
