Dometic 1492 Interior Light Question

On my 1492 there are two wires that power the interior light, red power & black ground.

When the light switch is seated properly in it's surround one of the two spade terminals on the switch is made to come in contact with a thin brass strip that protrudes from the back of the plastic lamp housing to complete the circuit and allow the switch to operate.  What I found was a black ground wire with female spade terminal end attached to the brass strip, nullifying the switch and causing the light to be always on even with the door shut.  I figured out that by removing the black ground wire the switch worked like it should.

I now have the black ground wire just hanging and attached to nothing.  Is that how it came from the factory or is it there to provide
a ground for something like a cooling fin muffin fan?

Check your low ambient circuit on the fridge.  When it is on, the interior light stays on.  You may just need to hook the wire back up and turn off the switch.  It should be located some where around the frame of the fridge.  Mine is on the top inside just above the freezer door.  Don't know where it is on your fridge.

On my 02 I hooked it to the fridge light switch power side.  Can't remember the ground but it was super easy and has worked for about three years with o problems.  We almost never have to defrost now and it think the cool is better distributed.

I have had our double muffin, fin fan powered by the wires in the light for several years. The fin fan virtually eliminates frost on the fins.
New fan comes from RV Cooling Warehouse and works much better and is quieter than the fan from eBay.

I have a Dometic 7030 Fridge.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the Dometic 1492?

Frost on LP refrig interiors, not cooling well while driving.
Here is an idea that those of you who seem to be getting more frost inside of your refrigerators or trouble cooling while driving might want to check.  The drain line from your refrigerator (blue pex as I recall) comes down behind the refrigerator and exits through the bottom of the coach.  Another FT owner was having this type of problem (his refrigerator never seemed to stay cold while driving) and he discovered that the orientation of the tube hanging down acted like a little air scoop just enough to add pressure to the interior of the refrigerator that caused air to leak around the seals.  He reoriented the drain tube and added an air deflector to reduce the air pressure getting better drainage and a better seal and better refrigerator performance.
