MCD day/night shades

We are in McKinney, TX at the MCD plant.  Yesterday had the inside windows measured as we are finishing out the coach with MCD's.  We already have the split powered windshield MCD's, which came in real handy coming east from Phoenix, in the morning.
Not only did they help as a movable sun visor, but with the day shade part way down, it really reduces the heat coming through also.
We have had out powered MCD's 6 or 7 years- very pleased with them.  Also have the manual in the bedroom.  All the new shades will be manual.

Since another one of our day/night shades string broke at Quartzite, we decided it is time to finish the coach ad enjoy them.  They should be building them soon and we will have them installed here before we leave.  Karen is really happy.

Ted, what is a ballpark cost per each before install (I know it depends on width). Have been thinking of doing that myself although right now all our shades D/Night are in great shape and I have cleaned them all before remounting.

Ted,

I am considering doing this myself also in windows, but not the windshield. Do you know how thick the shim is that the installer will use behind the valences on the side windows?

Thanks,  Royce

John, this is from MCD's website today. We did a full width front day/night shade.  Wonderful!  If you use a wedge filler on the drivers side you can do it without any flaps.  We made a wedge for both sides but it works great with just the driver's side.

MCD Shades Gold Series

I mounted the front shade on 1" blocks so that the shade roller frame misses the speakers behind the front valance.

I will use the manual shade for other windows as needed.

John- the price is on the MCD website- came out right on from my rough estimation before coming here to MCD.  Guess I measured ok.....s.

Royce- the installer did not use a shim, rather he used anchors similar to wall anchors to screw the clips into.  He made it look easy, of course he is 29 years old and does a lot of these.  He installed 6 new window shades ,after taking down the old ones, and redid the 2 in the bedroom so they were in the flat configuration ( seems like we gained a couple more feet of room), all for $300.  My supervision was no extra charge and I kept the old screws , never know when I will need them.

Karen is very happy and so am I......... ^.^d

Ted,

Thanks. The reason for my question is the MCD order form indicates that at least 2 inches is required behind the valence for the shades to clear so I think I will call ask for clarification on this point. Royce

Royce- our valences had plenty of clearance without modification.  If you do not have rope lights, I would assume yours are the same size as mine since we are both 2001 year coaches.  Calling MCD is a good idea, better yet is to come to the factory if possible, let them measure, build, etc.  They will give advice on installation if you want to do it yourself.  Hope it works out Royce.

Royce, if you order them on line expect them to call you to review the order and ask and answer any questions.  That Is what they did for me.  The process worked well, they do not want you to make an error.  Shades came quicker than I expected.  The front shade took some contortions on my part to get it.  All of the other shades should be easy in comparison.
