Smart Weigh

We just got the coach weighed at the Livingston, Texas SKP park. We had weighed at regular truck scales but this was the first time we were able to do each corner. Anyhow, for those of you that haven't done it, just like to say that it's quick and easy. We got four corner weights on both the coach and the toad. Just plant the front axle on the scales, then the rear. Then the same for the toad. Here's what it looks like.

Jean and I are in Livingston TX, on our way back from the FMCA Reunion in Perry, GA. We signed up for the Smart Weigh program at Escapees RV Club, here at Escapees HQ, in Livingston. Our appointment was for 10:00 this morning.
 
Our weighing person was Kris, who was very friendly and seemed to be very competent, She started by guiding us to place the front wheels onto the pair of scales. She recorded the weights and then guided us to place the rear axle on the scales. She also measured our height at various places. The high point was the rear A/C unit (Atwood Air Command), which she measured to be 11' 11".
 
They had instructed us to arrive at the scales with full propane and fresh water tanks, and empty black and gray tanks. We over-nighted in Beaumont, TX, but it was raining when we got up, so I did not dump (or fill) the tanks. Our configuration, as measured by our Audit system, was: FW@1/2, GW@5/8, BW@3/8, LP@3/4, and diesel@3/4. With the two of us, we were a little heavier than they requested, but we are aware of that.
 
Results (their scales have an accuracy rating within 1%):
 
    Front Axle: R=5850; L=5875; total=11,725; GAWR Front=13,000.
 
    Rear Axle: R=9150; L=9450; total=18,600; GAWR Rear=20,000.

The Smart Weigh cost us $45. We can come back to a Smart Weigh facility within 90 days and get reweighed for $25.
 
The front axle weights were impressive (only 25 pounds different)! The rear axle weights were only different by 300 pounds, which Kris said was acceptable. With my black and gray tanks not being empty, the difference could have been caused by that, depending on how centered they are in the RV.
 
We enjoyed the experience and now, after 600 days of ownership, we know how much we weigh. Bottom line: we have room for more of our stuff!

I weighed our rig on all four corners at a CAT scale near Knoxville, Tennessee back in January.

What I found was the coach was 540 lbs over weight in total, with the weight being 11,940 lbs on the front axle
and 23,100 lbs on the rear, making the rear 3,100 lbs over weight according to the data plate.

 I talked to FOT and found that the Meritor rear axle was actually a 21,000 lb axle assembly and not a 20,000 lb as
indicated by the data plate. ...............so that made it only 2,100 lbs overweight in the rear..

On our way home from Coach Buck City a couple of weeks ago I weighed the coach again, with tanks full and
on the same exact scales, only I positioned the front and rear axles fully on the scales as a semi would do. The new
weight slip indicated my front axle weighed 12,440 lbs and the rear axle weighed 20,000 lbs exactly for a total of
32,440 lbs, which is now within the GVWR of 34,500 lbs, and within the axle limits of 13, 500 lbs front and 21,000 lbs rear.

That was my experience with weighing all four corners.
