Recovering dining chairs in 96 Foretravel

Our kitchen chairs are well worn and I would like to recover them myself. Has anyone done this and do you have any hints?

Greetings, BirdLover, welcome to the Forum!

I have no personal experience in redoing chairs, but I can point you at the shop that did ours.  They are VERY experienced in all the aspects of RV interior work, and we have found their craftsmanship to be first rate.  They did our complete interior, including all chairs, couch, tile and carpet.

The shop is called Infinity Commercial Upholstery, and they are located in Nacogdoches, TX.

We did ours and it was very easy.  You might want to change the foam out for something better.  Once you take it apart it is obvious.  We purchased an electric staple gun and the job went quickly.

I had mine doe by FT and they put in new springs too.  I understand  MOT is setting up an shop and there is Infinity with Mitch in Nac as well but I am sure any place can really do it. I chose FT for mine.

I re-covered our chairs last year. As I removed the old fabric I took pics so I would remember the way it was constructed.

Thank you all for your replies. I like the idea of changing the base. My toes are often in pain! I'm going to try to jump in and see what happens. If worst comes to worst, I'll go to a commercial upholstery shop.
