Water filtration questions

Having not found an answer in the search function. I need to be educated on the water filter system on our coach. I do not know the brand nor when it was put in & there isn't any literature at all in my coach files.

It has a three stage canister setup that feeds into an RO membrane. It does have a Y bypass after the sediment & charcoal filters. I don't want to use RO water because of the high acidity that the AH water heater circuit would see. But I have no idea how this thing works. The power pack for the boost pump is unpluged so the system is idle. I DO want to have the water go through the sediment and charcoal but I'm very unsure how to do this. There is only a water line coming out of the wall (from?) to the canisters and no way to attach a hose. I'm of the mind that this system is RO only.

I'm confused for sure about this setup.

RO meaning reverse osmosis? Not good for water conservation I removed mine as it wasted almost as much water as it provided. I installed a .5 micron filter from Lowes and it is fine for me.

We use an RO system in our coach. I plumbed the brine back into the fresh water tank. We have seven gallons of RO water for drinking and cooking only. Has been working well for us.

I guess I wasn't very clear. Yes there is an RO on top of the other filters. But I'm trying to figure out how to use the filters before the RO, Basically bypassing the RO but still utilize the other filters. But I'm not sure where all the plumbing is or if it's even possible with this setup. I do not see a separate drinking water holding tank so I am assuming that the RO goes back into the fresh waster tank? I know nothing about this system. I was thinking about using these filters as a prefilter for the fresh water tank from a campground spigot. But of course the system is on the opposite side from the wet bay.

As a old water supply guy, I'd spec RO and not bypass it if you were drinking the water and/or cooking without boiling.

@bigdog,

Some pictures would sure help. I have an RO system that I run on my coach via the freshwater tank. I don't think FOT put in any RO systems so was probably put in by PO. The RO should be pretty easy to bypass.
