fuel cooler on M11

I have a seeping fuel cooler on my M11 . It appears that they are obsolete and no longer used and you can't retrofit the newer system. It is a Hayden model 027853 with smart valve  10324-RV3-H301. what have any of you with this cooler done? I have a call into James to see if it is possible to just plumb around it. any suggestions? Not familiar with this setup.

Why? What does cooling the fuel do? 

Does a m11 have it like your ism?

The coolers are available Part number 027853,10324-RV3 thru Hydraquip 972-660-7230 where Foretravel got them for $166.00 plus shipping. have a good day. Tom

The cooler keeps the fuel lines going to the tank cooler and keeps the fuel tank cooler. After bypassing in the fuel pump the fuel gets hot.

Correct.  Modern diesel engine have "high bypass" fuel systems.

For every gallon of fuel that goes to the engine, it burns an ounce or two.  The rest is used for cooling and lubricating the head and injection components (varies by engine).

Cooler fuel= more HP.  With external tanks, there is "radiant cooling".  But on a Foretravel which has internal tanks, a fuel cooler in the fuel return line (engine back to tank) is an excellent idea. After driving a few hundred miles in the summer with less than 1/2 tank of fuel, stop and put your hand on the diesel tank.  HOT isn't it!

No rocket science here.  I fit one on our 1993 U240.  Basically a Hayden transmission cooler.  Removed the return line from the engine and put it to the "out" side of the cooler.  New line engine to cooler "in" line.  Had a cover with velcro attachment to put over it in the winter so as not to "over-cool" the fuel.  No, not stock-- better than stock.
