Roof Air Problem.

Rear of coach Carrier Low Profile 13.5 A.C. , new in 2011, not giving cooling, fan working, but not in the front outlet or bottom. Any clues where to start? (I am not allowed on the roof). Screens are clean.

First thing Google " Carrier RV Roof Air"  there is a full up manual there for free. Can you hear the compressor running in the roof pack? Find your 120v breaker panel and reset all AC breakers.  Be sure that your wall/unit thermostatic is calling for cool. There might be a fuse in the ceiling unit that is blown, check that.

Mike, with any roof A/C, you need to find someone to go up, remove the cover and then access the electrical area.  Loose wires, bad capacitors, bad relay, etc well outnumber compressor or other major failures.

Do you hear the thermostat "click" when you rotate it cooler (i.e. it is sending the "start compressor" signal)?

At least from inside look up above filter and see if the coil surface is dirty, as all cooled air has to flow through the coil.  This may not be the 'problem' but it is something you can do without being on the roof.  Vacuum the dust on the visible wires and connectors can't hurt either.

Thanks all, will do some poking around today (after my NASCAR fix).  ^.^d  Having never stayed here, I don't have a tech I trust and will do some research. I've never seen Carrier out here, but as the saying goes: "Roof Air is Roof Air".

Maybe I should start a NASCAR thread and not hijack this one.

Interesting: Pulled both screens and took them outside and cleaned them with a toothbrush, they were dirty!  Rotated the temp control back and forth (had felt some binding yesterday). Fired it up, rotated the temp from zero to full cool,  the compressor came on, and, Houston, we have cooling!  ^.^d  (Fingers crossed, summer is coming).

Mike,

Is that a mechanical type switch that could benefit from some contact cleaner?  DeoxIT (Radio Shack) is good stuff!  8)
