I.D. this air fitting?

While under the front of the coach today I heard a air leak. I tracked the leak down to this part. (photo added further down in post)
Air was leaking from the right port on the bottom, I assume this is not normal.
Has anybody re-built or replaced this valve?
If so, would you know the manufacturer or the replacement model?
Rebuild kit?

Lon,

I am slowly going through my air system, but have not yet "messed" with the brake system valves, so I have no direct experience.

You say this leak is located under the front of your coach.  Looking at my air system diagram (assuming yours is similar), it appears that the the "service brake relay valve" is mounted at the rear of the coach.  This may or may not be the actual location - I have not checked.

I see two brake system valves that appear (on the diagram) to be located up front: the "spring brake control valve" and the "quick release valve".  I wonder if you are possibly looking at the "quick release valve".  I say this because on the air diagram it shows this component has a "exhaust port".  It would make sense that, if the valve was malfunctioning, air could be leaking out this port.

The "quick release valve" has 3 air lines attached to it.  The other main brake valves all have 4 air lines attached.  A photo of the leaking valve would be helpful in making a positive identification.  It is possible the valve could be rebuilt, once you have the part number and find the correct rebuild kit.

Or, you could just remove the leaking valve and take it to a NAPA parts house.  It is MOST likely a very common air brake system component, and they should have no trouble providing a suitable replacement.

Take a look at the catalog linked below.  Starting on page 30, see if any of the (many) valves shown look like your "trouble-maker":

You may be correct, it could be the quick release valve. I was looking at my air schematic for something that looked similar, I ignored the fact that the service brake relay valve was on the rear of the schematic figuring that its paper location would not necessarily correspond to the actual location.

I will spend some "alone time" under the beast today working on the front bulk head. I will take some pictures of the air part while I'm down there.

Well, don't count yourself wrong yet.  The air schematic is a "generalized" representation of the system, but it is frequently misleading as to the actual location of components.  You may still be correct in your assessment.  A photo, plus counting the number of air lines attached, will surely allow positive identification.

    There's a parts tag on the valve in the photo, you can look up the number at Bendix.

I agree, Lon.  If you can get a number off the valve, that may help identify it.  It doesn't really look like any of the valves in that Bendix catalog I linked above, so I'm stumped.  Last resort, like I said earlier, is remove it and take it to NAPA or a truck parts house.  They should be able to match it up to a replacement part.

Here's one other thought.  If you can see the ID tags on the air lines attached to that valve, you could match them up to your air schematic.  That should pin down which valve you are looking at.

Is everyone convinced that this is a Bendix valve?

I don't have that much knowledge yet of Foretravel.  However, I have a leak within a valve in a similar location on my '97, except that my valve also has some electrical connections.  When the number was pulled off and researched it indicated a Haldex ABS valve.

I have no knowledge of when Foretravel started with ABS nor with Haldex components but it is worth researching the number on the internet.
