Spring updates, planned and unplanned

Exactly one year ago today I called MOT and put a deposit down on my coach. I am as thrilled today as I was on that day. No regrets of any kind, well, except for maybe the 3 fiberglass dings I inflicted on the coach as I was learning to drive it.

We had to replace our start batteries last week while at TN RV for an annual fluid change.....oil and filters on engine and generated, air filters, chassis lube, etc. I knew that was coming. For the past month or so the coach wouldn't start without the boost switch on. We installed 3 Optima Red Tops and it starts now in a half second.

We replaced the steer tires with Michelin XZA 3's, and went ahead and order 4 rear tires to make things easier to manage. The tires are in yet, hopefully this week

My ignition solenoid went bad on my way to TN RV, that was an easy fix. The tech told me it was original.

My dash radio died. It was cheaper to replace it than it would have been to repair it. I replaced it with a new Sony XM radio. I have to take it back as head unit is not finding the antenna. The FM, Radio, Pandora, ITunes's, all work. perfectly. The PO installed a terrific stereo with excellent speakers throughout.

We replaced all of the carpet and the bathroom floor last week. After lots of research we used a local, family owned company. We discovered that the installer had lots of experience installing flooring in motorhomes. As we know the GV raised cockpit is not an easy carpeting situation. He did a fantastic job and truly exceeded my high expectations. I could not be more thrilled about the work. I mentioned that I was a member here and asked if he wanted me to post up his contact info. He said, he'd think about it. :+)

I'm heading back to Tennessee RV to have the radio fixed under warranty in a few weeks. I decided to go ahead and replace the TracStar in-motion dish. The PO used it for Direct TV but the receiver had been removed when we bought the coach. I've been using it for over the air DTV but the dish is now obsolete and is no longer supported. It is only a matter of time before it goes dark.

We already have new HD TV's front and back. After looking at all the options I decided to go with the WIneguard Traveler. I want HD but do not need in-motion. We have an extra DTV DVR that I will use in the coach. I'm planning on installing the receiver in the face of the drawer under the front TV.

While there I also want to have them figure out why my cable TV isn't working. We have been unsuccessful tracking the problem down. That will not get much use but I want everything working.

We really feel that we have made the coach our own in the last year. Now we need to get on the road!

Sounds like you've enjoyed your coach as much as we've enjoyed ours. We may not have all of the latest bells and whistles, but we have some pretty good coaches.

I was in a hurry to get the coach back into storage as they were closing early for the long weekend. I'll get pictures posted later this week.

Sounds like you guys just about have your ride completely personalized. That is what is so great about classic Foretravel coaches, and GVs in particular...not that I'm biased. You can buy them without breaking the bank, put some money in them changing what you want different, and still have less cash invested than most buyers of cheap flimsy new SOBs. The only downside is having to tolerate all the compliments and admirers every place you stop. But you get used to it...
