Tire balancing

Does anyone know what the cost is for high speed tire balancing on a coach?  Rough estimate would be helpful.

They take the tyres off to do that and here  it cost me $25 cndn each one so I guess that would be $1.49 us

I don't know the cost, just call a shop and ask.  Do you have out of balance tires?  Do they have cupping or uneven thread wear?  My front tires suddenly went out of balance and had cupping spots and no longer rode smoothly.  I installed centramatic balancers which helped, but because of the cupping they still did not ride smoothly.  Since they were getting old, I bought new tires and with the centramatic's have not had a problem.  If your tires are not too old you could have them shaved to get rid of cupping.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAasIWzUJaU  It may be hard to find a shop that does tire shaving.

 $15-25 each in proper shop that can do a correct job.

Best balancing is done ON the coach (front tires).

Start by checking for RUN-OUT.

Then spin balance on the rig.  This way all rotating masses are in balance.

Yes, it is a dying art, but there are still old-fashion tire stores that do that.

And, even those that TRUE tires if excessive run-out.

I use the tire balancing beads inside the tire.  I have them put in when I have new tires installed.  Never have an out of balance problem or any strange wear patterns.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz
