engine check light

I have a 2008 Nimbus and when I first start the engine the engine check light will come on.  After a few minutes it will go off.  Sometimes if I turn the engine off and then back on the light will stay off.  The oil level is good.  No bad readings on the dash dials.  Has anyone had this issue?

If you don't have the ability to check for codes, go by any Cummins dealer so he can do it.  Could be very minor or a real issue.  Would be good to know which and get it fixed.

One suggestion, that might, or might not work.

When you go to start it, first turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. Wait a few seconds until some of the idiot lights, including the "Check Engine" light go out. Then turn the ignition switch to the "START" position.

A Foretravel authorized service center did this when I was ready to leave and the "Check Engine" light kept staying on. No trouble after that.

Good luck,

I always turn the key to the ON position and wait for the idiot lights to go out before I start the engine.  I will probably have to take it to a Cummins dealer so they can read the codes and hopefully find out why the engine light comes on intermittently.  Thanks for the reply.

Intermittent - bad ground or connection?
