Rusted Zip Dee Awning Tube(s)

Good Morning,

Recently I have noticed that when traveling in the rain there's a great deal of rust coming out of one of the Zip Dee awning ends.

When we bought the coach a year ago I noticed that the roller ends showed rust, but now in the rain the rusty water runs down the side of the coach and spreads everywhere when under way.

I know the spring must be rusty too, and I plan to replace all rollers and springs, but is there any way to prevent at least the roller from rusting?  What about powder coating or something similar?  What about powder coating the old rollers if they're not too far gone?

T-Man. I had similar problems with the awning-slide topper over my living room slide, must have replaced four springs and a couple of tubes. Solution in to stop the water from getting in. Mine was the run off from the condensation from the AC. I finally put a ridge of silicone around the roof to redirect the water. Been a couple of years now and so far awning is rust free.

Good point, the condensation from the ac units is a huge pain, I can't believe "pans" were not used to direct the runoff thru tubing to daylight underneath. I have also caulked the flange where the awning screws to the roof and made a ridge so as to direct rain to side to side beyond the awning edge The flange should have been wider, but, hey, we're just the end uses, what do we know?

Hey,  we know what we like and don't like Mike, and we don't like the water running down the side of the coach. Ha
Monaco had it figured out.
