Generator not making a/c power
Another post about problems on first long outing with the coach. When I left to go fishing I told my wife to start the generator if the voltage got down to 12 volts. Upon my return the generator was off and Lynda told me it had shut down about a half hour after she started it and a red light had come on. When I checked the fault at the generator it was for overheat. I started it up and went in the coach to check the meter for battery charging. The A/C current never came on the monitor. Went back to the generator and checked the radiator fan motor, it was not working. Turned off the generator and checked for tripped breakers. The 2 45 amp were fine as the fan and generator reset breakers. Pushing the generator reset button several times on and off then restarting the generator the fan motor came on. When I checked the meters power was on and batteries were charging. about a half hour later the television went off and power was not present at the meter. Back to the generator reset button on and off, start generator, power back on. This repeated 2 more times and then stopped dropping power. Called Power Tech for support when we returned home and the person I talked to said the circuit breaker was probably bad and at a cost of $45 why didn't I just put an inline 5 amp fuse in its place. Removed the circuit breaker did a Google search for the part number and found it for $8 plus shipping ordered 2. Took the circuit breaker to the work bench and hooked up ohm meter to contacts pushing the button in and out, never had no resistance in the closed position, but by pulling out on the button while in the closed position the resistance dropped, but still not good. One other problem solved.
